Another problem. We don't have enough ourselves, so it has to come from other countries, some of which practice child & slave labor, a notable example being the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

And why is it that these repressive countries have "democratic," "republic" and "people's" in their names?

Well, as we know, they do not care about children anyways.

Lack of critical thinking…. Typical libtards. Lithium isn’t going to mine itself. Let’s just give every tree hugger a pick axe and shovel.

So very true. Additionally, the vast amount of electricity that is produced in this country comes from coal, oil, or gas. You need electricity (fossil fuels) in order to charge an EV.

People really need to forgo the false term "fossil fuels". A term coined by OPEC in order to fool the masses into thinking there was a short supply of oil. Which there isn't. The earth actually produces an abundance of oil. So much so that humans would run out of ways to waste it. Globalists want us to think there isn't much of it by tricking us into thinking that we need "green energy". Oil IS green energy; the earth produces it, FFS. It's absolutely renewable. Just not in the way the globalists want us to think about it. So, drop the term fossil fuels and call it what it really is: OIL.

That hasn't been proven yet. Its still a theory, same as the fossil fuel moniker. What is real is that we can produce oil and coal in labs now in a few weeks or months.

I agree with Nihonium's comment:

"Lol your name is priceless +1 follower lol"

So you have another follower, but I can't help but think that libs will choke on even "snack sized" truth! Simple minds demand simple solutions,as in "We must do SOMETHING!" even if it's just passing another law to "STOP (whatever) FROM EVER HAPPENING AGAIN!"

Good luck with that.

Learn to Mine Coal, should be a phrase most commonly used :)

And the funny thing about this is it'll take more oil to charge that lithium than to just use the oil to begin with. Oh, and don't forget about all the oil it takes to mine the shit in the first place. Liberal logic lives in a vacuum. It's time someone emptied the bag.

And how much does anyone want to bet if lithium mining happened in the US, there would be less damage to the local environment because 1) People have the freedom to speak out about it unlike China. 2) Improved technology would come about because of 1.

I wish I could agree with you on that, but I look at the US Petroleum industry. We get the oil in the cleanest, safest manner possible, we transport it safely through pipelines or other means. And the current government refuses to promote getting our own oil from our own country.

The current administration wants to shut down US oil production, in favor of begging the Saudis, the Venezuelans, and other questionable sources of energy. Ditto for coal. We get it the cleanest way possible, we burn it in the cleanest ways, and we have strict laws on the books to ensure mining safety. But coal is a taboo for the current administration. They have no problem seeing China get coal in any way possible, and burning it how China sees fit (at the expense of clean practices). But American coal should never be considered.

They have zero emission coal plants, but they don't want to use them.

Has anyone explained how that worked out to Joe Biden?

There's only so much 'better' it can get (you're still peeling away Layers of Earth looking for a specific element(s)...

In the US if you do that you have to restore the land to its original condition, including planting plants and releasing animals on it.

when the Project is complete... the Pipe is Finite and thus the greenery is in place in short order...
- where do you put the excavated dirt while strip mining?
- how many decades can they keep the hole open?
- How much damage is done while the hole i open?

The answer to these and any more questions is the least of why these operations are 'outsourced"

That's not in the US though. It'll never be filled in or restored.

In all fairness - there's only so much information you can gather from these two pictures. I'm personally for both, but you can't foist unrealistic, green energy requirements onto the world based on political agendas and climate alarmism at the expense of the reality of living in the day-to-day world all of us are in. Currently, fossil fuels are the best, most efficient, and pragmatic source of energy we have. Until green energy is better developed - we need to stick with it for a while.

It is typically elites who push these unrealistic green energy requirements. & often is it at the expense of those who have to live in the real world that most of these idiots are isolated from due to their wealth and power.

We see this arrogance and detachment from reality when they suggest people just go out and buy an expensive EV to combat rising gas prices. We also see this with gun control defunding the police when they want to take away guns and aggressive policing while they are surrounded by armed guards.

This is what power and money do. It corrupts and detaches these people from the day-to-day reality most of us live in.

neither. the keystone pipeline is essentially high-speed rail for oil, but not actually used to extract. image shows what a fraction of an oil field looks like.

That same field also happens to be where tons of the energy for your electric car is coming from
0 ups, 2y
also where the energy for my ///actual/// car is coming from. the only benefit of EVs is that they produce few carbon emissions per person, but that's barely a benefit compared to what i advocate for.

No it looked like a pristine forest.
1 up, 2y
Which will be replanted.Sure there were forests that were clear cut for Drake's Well and so on(I live about a hour away). But looking at it today you wouldn't know any drilling let alone clear cutting ever happened if you didn't know the history. And those forests were replanted long before modern laws were written.

Okay smart guy, why don't you reference a spilled pipeline! By the way, it's better for the earth that we relieve it of the pressure oil builds up so that it doesn't come up on it's own, in places that may really harm the environment, and people. But, you wouldn't know this cuz you're lost in the world of liberal logic where real the real scientific method and critical thinking is an alien language.

You quickly Googled and found this from a left-leaning organization, and left-leaning organizations are known to fudge the statistics to fit a narrative, see CNN for instance.

Perhaps I should have been more clear: You criticized the OP for using a stretch of pipeline that hasn't spilled yet. Why don't you find a picture that shows a spilled pipeline. I'd rather clean up a spilled pipeline than to deal with leaking lithium batteries when they're disposed of. That shit'll leak for decades upon decades polluting the water supply. Oil can be cleaned and the land and water restored in far less time and damage than the consequences of leaving a gaping hole in the earth from mining and the disposal of lithium. You are another stupid liberal who doesn't know how to think things thru properly. Riddle me this: How will the mined lithium charge itself?
