I know about the damage verbal abuse can cause. I have a dear friend who's father verbally abused her all her life. One time he punched her but that was the only time he physically abused her. I saw what that did to her as an adult.

That is a tough one to solve because child protective services has also abused they're privileges and forcibly remove children from good parents. CPS is a good idea but because it comes from the government it cannot be trusted with that kind of power.

I don't have a solution for the situation that my friend had to endure, so I just try to be a nice as I can to her to hopefully, in some small way, compensate for her horrible father.
