I think the government doing things for Americans is precisely the problem. Sadly, more and more I see that the "progressive" mindset that government exists to do things for people has unfortunately even saturated the minds of conservatives. We need them to stop doing things, uphold the rule of law, and get out of the way and let Americans live their lives as they see fit.

No saturation of that mindset here as I agree with you. I think you mistook my "Americans First" (Not Illegals First) for "Ask What Your Country Can Do For You" instead of vice versa. Totally different message, NYGuy. Most conservatives do not support the latter in big numbers and perhaps you are referring to RINOs which most of us abhor.

Yeah, Sorry for the confusion. I should have used the term Republican instead of conservative, because that would be a more appropriate term for what I am discussing. As you know, not all Republicans are conservatives. & often you see the terms Republican and Conservative used interchangeably like they're the same thing when they're not the same thing. So I should know better. Truth be told, very few Republicans are actual conservatives. This is one of the big problems in the GOP and - among other reasons - what gave a rise in popularity to Trump and the Libertarian movement. Good post by the way.
