Have you read 1984? The scene at the end when Winston Smith picks up a gun and shoots his way to a new revolution isn't there because that would have missed the f**king point.



The point was that Winston was subverted through tactics that the government employs that seem to feature not just in extreme dystopian government, but indeed in ALL governments. 1984 was an obvious commentary on Communism, but the point is that it may as well have been about Britain in 1948, and indeed even - yes, the references are in there - the USA in the 1780's.
