Too bad, so sad:

Is Trump as bad as Hitler? No, not even close.

But he seems to be quite popular among Hitler's fanbase.
4 ups, 2y,
2 replies
Eating food to survive is also quite popular among Hitler's fanbase.

Meanwhile, the Nation of Islam, an extremely highly antisemitic religious organization led by Lewis Farrakhan, is quite popular among Stalin's fanbase.

The difference is Trump has publicly, *repeatedly* denounced neo nazis and white supremacists. The left doesn't denounce Farrakhan or the NoI for fear of being labeled Islamophobic and racist.

Also, don't you find it suspicious how the neo nazis and KKK keep publicly supporting Trump despite him repeatedly denouncing them? 🤔
2 ups, 2y,
1 reply
I was today years old when I learned who Lewis Farrakhan was.

And yes, Trump did denounce neo nazis, but only after the media (rightfully) jumped down his throat for saying that there were good people on all sides of the Charlottesville incident.
4 ups, 2y
He denounced them in the very same press conference as the "very fine people" quote. The media didn't "rightfully" jump down his throat, they mendaciously tried to deliberately twist what he said, to try and catch him in a gotcha moment, completely ignoring that he also said there were BAD people there, on *both* sides.

So the answer is one.

And the other Presidents are considered only criminal by way of public opinion. Got it.

The claim they are criminals has no basis in fact.

Right back at ya, buddy.

I see you missed the part where I asked a question and you evaded the answer.

And you missed my point that you’re supporting public opinion rather than actual charges.

Trump could be found guilty today or tomorrow, next year, next decade.

Will the right continue to say he’s not a criminal or will they continue to say the charges were trumped up?

If the latter then my point stands. Criminal status is mere public opinion rather than a fact of court outcome.

So a President can be determined a criminal if they break the law but are otherwise pardoned or not indicted.

I just want to know the baseline.

You can’t slap Clinton, a known perjurer, with a criminal label and ignore the criminal activities of Trump.

If Clinton could’ve run for a third term, I somehow doubt moderates would’ve still voted for him over W Bush. The outcome of this hypothetical alternate 2000 election would mostly be the same.

All the more reason why Trump should not be the frontrunner for 2024 for much the same reason.

Unless, of course, you believe some crime to be okay to be overlooked by way of level of the crime or the politics of the person in question.

None, and that holds true to this day. Trump wasn't president when they indicted him. Not to mention his indictment is vaporware, a desperate attempt to keep him from running for 2024, with no more evidentiary support than his impeachments had.

His indictment is the same as Obama's Nobel prize, given for no legitimate reason, purely on spec, with the hopes that something will pop up later to justify it.
3 ups, 2y,
1 reply
Fair. However no former Presidents were indicted either. The title remains even after holding office so I find your need to be pedantic a little desperate in avoiding the fact.

Vaporware isn’t the correct nomenclature. As the indictment is done, and while it’s outcome of that indictment remains to be seen, it has nothing to do with hardware or software. Nor does him being indicted or convicted nullify his election bid. What you mean is the indictment is mere political ammunition for both Republican challengers and the overall general Presidential election. Perhaps it will be, however, there is definitely an element to Trump that gives one the perception he is above the law. Whether you’re for or against this perception is irrelevant. Whether you do or don’t believe this perception is irrelevant. What is relevant is the perceptions of the majority of voters. Voters he has failed to succeed in precutting the popular vote twice. Trump was always at a disadvantage, true. But it remains that the primary disadvantage isn’t the media, isn’t the establishment, isn’t even the naive populous (in fact, that’s been more of a boon). It’s always been his incompetence, inexperience, and putting his self-interests above that of the people. Even if he claims otherwise.
4 ups, 2y,
1 reply
Funny how you accuse me of being pedantic, only to do that exact thing yourself in your very next line. Incorrectly, I might add, over what was an obvious metaphor, not an incorrect application of terminology.

As for Trump, inexperienced I'll grant you. Incompetent? Only insofar as failing to realize how rabidly his former fanbase would turn against for no good reason.

And putting his own self interests above that of the people? I'm confused, I thought you were trying to prove he *wasn't* qualified to be president. Isn't that practically a prerequisite to be a politician, especially president?

And even if true, name me a high-ranking politician that *doesn't* do that.
0 ups, 2y
It was not a good metaphor by a longshot.

Me claiming Trump and MAGA Republicans are liberals makes more sense then whatever it is you’re trying to do.

Sure, they’re not conservatives either. Nor libertarians. Certainly not for the constitution save for THEIR interpretation of it only and when convenient for them. They’re more… reconstitutionalists…I suppose.

I have no illusions that Trump is a politician.

His base, on the other hand, treat him as if he were the second coming.

I just see a golden calf.

There are plenty of good Republicans to elect to replace both Biden and Trump. Both of whom are incompetent crackpots that belong in an old folks home than they do in the Oval Office.

But we don’t want competent and boring politicians running things because now they’re all overlooked by the popcorn and spectacle of MAGA populist idiots.

Well, not sure what arguments you imagined you’ve decimated in this conversation.

I’ve just asked a very simple question, you deflected it, I answered my own question, I wondered how many of our fellow Republicans would accept a conviction, and you optimistically think they will while I remain dubious. Then we bickered over grammar and some childish idea of who won what, while otherwise having a pleasant conversation.

Why do you think Ad Homenim’s are only the purview of a leftist?

You’ve been more critical of me more than my arguments plenty of times in this ongoing comment chain.

Which is what the definition of an ad homenim is, not mere slurs.

Criticizing my grammar, accusing me of general ignorance for being merely inquisitive, but rest assure. I take no offense to your criticism.

https://www.google.com/search?q=ad+hominem+definition&rlz=1CDGOYI_enUS711US711&oq=ad+homebim+&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j0i13i433i512l2j0i13i512l7.3827j1j4&hl=en-US&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8

By your own flawed logic, YOU are a leftist.

And you being so easily offended by a mere joke…. Seems to validate that perception.

As I already have stated, to you, so I guess you’re not the only one who has to repeat themself:

“And if you REALLY don’t want Biden to have another four years, then don’t support that phony asshat who already lost. Moderates already made their choice between Biden and Trump.

Any Republican can unseat Biden except just the one.”

That sound like a leftist thinking to you?

Or is anyone against Trump a little too far to the left for someone like you?

Because, I assure you, believing in a singular person as our political savior is not only ridiculous, it is sinful.

There is only ONE way toward His salvation.

And Donald Trump isn’t it.

Trump is stupid, cowardly, and utterly despicable.

There may even be people who genuinely believe that Trump is better than Biden. But that is an opinion, and a very unpopular opinion. Trump Supporters may be the most passionate fans in all of pop culture, but there just isn’t enough of them to muster the numbers they need.

Republicans, on the other hand, do have the numbers. But if you seriously believe every Republican voted for Trump in 2020, you’re going to be in for a surprise in 2024, in 2028…. Or however many Presidential Elections it takes for him to lose until WE Republicans stop letting him live in our heads rent free.

He’s a bum and he doesn’t deserve our devotion.

You’re the one who assumes I’m a leftist because I made a rather simple observation about Trump.

My conclusions appear to actually support that theory.

So, I’ll tell you what, don’t make simple assumptions about my politics based solely on Trump and I won’t assume you’ve a Trump supporter.

Is this reasonable or shall you supply more ad homenims and render your argument moot?

Failing to use it properly is your failing, not mine.

You mean “nor”

As you can see, the fingers slip.

I just got out of surgery and I’m on pain meds.

What is your excuse? Spellcheck?

Anyway…

In either case, Trump IS part of the very establishment he claims to be against.

Not a single thing Trump has done has been outside of the corporate interests of his colleagues beyond going off-script.

That would be like claiming Biden is antiestablishment for his own occasional word salads.

And if you REALLY don’t want Biden to have another four years, then don’t support that phony asshat who already lost. Moderates already made their choice between Biden and Trump.
