I don’t think anyone is claiming she is Ukraine’s best sniper. At least, if MSM is going gaga over a Ukrainian woman sniper… that’s not what she looks like based on my rudimentary search.

I never found the picture elsewhere being utilized in anything pro-ukraine or otherwise.

Is it uncommon for people to hold the trigger clear like this? No. Not in my experience. I usually recommend above the trigger but far too many still make this mistake and they know far more about guns than I. This, however, I know. Yes, it’s not cleared properly but it is clear.

In fact, if it’s not clear, she is at least pulling the trigger correctly by the top tip of her finger joint. A person who didn’t know what they were doing would not only hold the rifle this way, but her finger would be on the second top joint as well

So either she knows, correctly, to use the first joint correctly or she doesn’t know how to clear the trigger.

If you’re arguing the latter, then you’re admitting she had no intention of firing the gun and thus negating the argument of improperly handling for fire.

Is she checking the scope? Her eye is on it. It’s possible she wanted a better look but I sincerely doubt her intention is to fire it.

Honestly, I would prefer to judge her on a video rather than a photograph. This could’ve been a snapshot of her holding the weapon this way for a variety of reasons. And I would hope not to shoot as many here have correctly deduced… it would not end well.

Ya so I have no idea if she is the best ukranian sniper. If she is, they are in trouble. Anyone who looks at this and believes she is handling that firearm properly is not an authority on weapons or drill.

The op clearly infers that she is not the best Ukranian sniper because she is not handling the weapon professionally. Toe Joe tried to defend the assumption that she was a knowledgeable ukranian sniper along with your own chime in that she is checking the scope. I asked if that was how you checked a scope with your finger on or near the trigger. Waiting on the answer.

The obvious is simple. The woman in the picture is not shooting the gun.

It’s not.

Her finger is straight and not curled or in the trigger guard. While it is recommended to hold the finger above the trigger, rather than on or next to, especially if you don’t know the gun, I see way too many trainers that display a clear trigger the way she is now.
