Hahaha! Clearly, the biggest idiot is the one who believes that free goods/services exist in the first place.

Dumb Blonde Meme | WELL, IF I DON’T HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING FOR EDUCATION AND HEALTHCARE OF COURSE I’LL PAY MORE FOR TAXES | image tagged in memes, dumb blonde | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Because we get so much more from taxes than we get from education and healthcare 🙄

I wish there was an opt out for taxes, then you pay for everything yourself. I'd go that route and save tons. Heck I'd go out and fix the dang roads myself.

Agreed. Government bureaucracy wastes so much money.

Every Economy Class should begin with the following saying each and every day; "There is NO such thing as a free lunch."

Or to put it another way: If you want something for nothing, then somebody else must get nothing for something.

That pretty much contradict the whole point of paying taxes, right?

Free Education and Healthcare for higher taxes? That could help me out a lot... but I dunno if that's a deal I wanna go with, cuz a higher tax would make a gallon of milk from $8 to $16

Yeah, it really should be called public education and health care. Tsk.

Couldn't they take some money out of the obscenely expensive military or police budget?
2 ups, 3y
Police are quitting where it counts and recruitment is down so that frees up money. The military is a different issue because of the darn military bureaucracy and neocons in government.

Government is literally the worst people to run anything. If poor people got the credit and got to choose who they spent it on, it would be totally different.

It is exactly how it works.

This is also how it works: The government claims ownership over your income and decides how much it keeps for itself - and how much it doles out to you, as if you were a child on an allowance.

It can also be likened to a protection racket: You pay government for "services" that government tells you you "need". Which services, and how much you pay, is dictated by the government.

And if you refuse to pay, something bad happens to you.

Well you DO need healthcare, education, etc, so...

If and when I need it, I should pay for it myself, not mooch on somebody else.

Or make it taxpayer funded so that you never have to worry about it.

OK, I guess I have to tell you the hard truth:

Your needs - perceived or real - do not constitute a right to other people's property.

We - you and I - have never met, and chances are we never will. We owe each other nothing. I have no claim on you, and you have no claim on me.

Your duty is to yourself, your family and friends, and your local community. Not to a random stranger on the other side of the world.

I have no right to deny you the fruit of your labor, no matter what needs or wishes I may claim to have. No matter my hard luck stories. They do not take precedence over your property rights. And that goes the other way, too!

If you can afford insurance.
0 ups, 3y
You can, if you don't have to spend all your money on government "solutions".

Yes, that's how it works.

If everyone got exactly what they paid for, there would be no need to do it through taxes. People would/could just pay directly. So not only is that how it works, that's how it's meant to work.
I'm in a low tax bracket, so I pay nothing in income taxes. (I even get money back in the form of credits, but I digress). When I (or my kids) use any public service such as the library or public schools, someone pays for it without receiving something in return. I get "something for nothing" they get "nothing for something" thier tax dollars. Thay says nothing about whether or not this arrangement is desirable for society as a whole. We can argue about that until we are blue in the face, but that IS how it works.

Whether or not we are better as a society is debatable, and is subjective rather than objective. Most of us won't even agree what makes better society. I do agree some of it is necessary.
In theory, I like the idea of universal healthcare, but I've been on government healthcare (medi-cal) and it was a shit show. It was so horribly mismanaged I might as well have had no healthcare at all. I have zero faith that our circus of a government could manage it. There would be even more waste and delays than there already is. Many people think it would be simply walking into a hospital and getting treatment, but it would be more like trying to work your way through an automated phone menu, where none of the options are what you need and no option for a live operator.

This isn't exactly like building a Hoover Dam and then it'll keep farting out the goods.
Fact it, even that requires funding to keep it going.

No. Even a gift to you isn't 'free' because someone, namely the gift giver, paid for it.

Clearly you do not live in a full socialist country. Socialism conditions people to be lazy and government dependant. 66% have lots of common sense, you are the 34% that lacks common sense. I can see how you are triggered because this meme exposes your kind. Wise up.
