It's debatable whether or not being transgender is a mental disorder...one one hand, it is called "gender dysphoria," but on the other hand, I've noticed that once a transgender person has come to terms with what their gender identity is, they're pretty at peace with themselves. With a mental illness, you're really never at peace, but trans people become at peace once they become comfortable with who they are on the inside. The only thing that makes them uncomfortable after that is the douchebags who don't accept them and tell them they're invalid. Also, even if being trans WAS a mental illness, nothing about gender dysphoria makes people irrational or dangerous. I think they should 100% be allowed to serve in the military. Nothing about them makes them any less capable of fighting for our country.

It is a mental disorder, just now is not looked at that way for political and monetary gain. But that not takes from the fact it is a scientifically classified mental disorder. But you keep smoking what you are smoking and believe whatever you want.

There's a difference between biologically based mental disorders anddevelopmental disorders. Developmental disorders can be the result of external factors. Regardless, I don't think it is okay to turn the system on it's ass to accommodate a fringe group that is less than 1% of the population.

We don't nessasarily think mentally ill people should own guns, but we KNOW it is a right to bear arms. Just don't do something stupid with them and you won't end up in prison.

Here's some pseudo-scientific terms that have been forced into the mainstream: "Pansexual" "Transgender" "Queer" WTF is queer? I mean...are you homo, or are you not? The other two? Utter nonsense just recently cooked up by the far-left and force-fed into mainstream America.

Be HONEST: NOBODY was using these terms just 5, or 6, or 10 years ago. This is new. Therefore it's nonsense. Why is it nonsense? It's ENTIRE argument is emotionally-fueled with ZERO science backing it.

That being said, transgenders ARE a distraction to the troop majority. We don't need soldiers wondering what eachother are, while they shower, shit, and shave. They're supposed to make the most of their (very limited) personal time and focus on the battle/mission. There's no space and no place for that BS in the US military. As a vet myself, I would've have been VERY uncomfortable with the newly-defined "transgender" or gay soldier in my unit. It WOULD be distracting. We don't need...and shouldn't HAVE TO worry about shit like that.

First off, it WAS a thing a couple of years ago. During the Civil War, there were at least 100 confirmed cases of transgender people who served as soldiers, men born as women who fought just as valiantly as soldiers who were not transgender. When the war was over, these people went on to live the rest of their lives as men, like Albert Cashier for example. My point is, people have been calling themselves transgender for 150 years, and people have been calling themselves gay since ancient f**king Egypt. These are not new terms.

There have been hundreds of independent studies, done by straight men and women mind you, confirming that being gay or being transgender isn't a choice. People are born transgender or gay, they do not become that way over time. These studies were not "emotionally fueled," they were backed by 100 percent scientific research. I would link several of those studies here, but I don't have time for that. Also, your statement of "It's new, therefore it's nonsense" is f**king dumb. I don't think I need to delve into that.

Your logic of having a transgender person or a gay person in your unit is the exact same thinking that went through the minds of soldiers during the Civil War and World War 1 when they had a black man in their squadron. "These people are different than I am, and that's distracting to me. Put them somewhere else." If a transgender person desires to go into the military, they are dedicated to being a soldier, just like a black person, or a white person, or a straight person. What they are, or what they look like, should not bother you. After all, you're supposed to be focusing on your mission, right? Don't bother thinking about what f**king gender or skin color your fellow soldiers are. That's not your job.

Well, the idea of being "born gay/transgender" is not what the data suggests; rather, it demonstrates that there is an inherent biological disposition toward being gay or transgender, but does not guarantee that is what they will develop as. Epigenetics, for example, is something with a likely affect on sexual orientation but can change over time. But other than that, you are correct :)

Your argument's weak. Here's how: To compare a very honorable struggle with somebody who likes to be teabagged and toss salads is reprehensible, Octavia. I can't CHOOSE to be Black. I AM. Being gay is NOT biological; every study done to support it was debunked or the researchers themselves stated alongside their findings "plausible deniability." A person's sexual behavior is PRIVATE. Serving in the military you give up certain rights; one of them is privacy. Wave that rainbow flag at gay bars. Keep that shit to yourself. You have a supportive community. You have safe places to go to. Safe spaces in your head that justify that unnatural behavior. I don't wanna see it downtown.

Being Gay or trans is biological. Studies have shown the LGBTQ individuals to have different brain structures from straight cis individuals. It's not just sexual behavior either; there's love in Gay relationships. Love that should be expressed equally as straight love is expressed.

People with physical or mental disorders are generally denied military service. Transgenders have high rates of suicide, and being in the military will just make that much worse.

Obviously some people believe that transgenders are mentally ill. But science says that many people have a lot of cells from the other gender in them . So if at all, they are physically ill (a almost everybody is, anyway, like those who think the above-said) .

Also, the average testosterone levels of transgender biological males are higher than the average levels of straight men. You can Google it.
