Assuming the man *was* shot and killed, what purpose does this serve? It punishes his wife and children more than him. His suffering was brief, theirs ongoing. And what heinous act did those children do to deserve to suffer? No political ends were met, as he held no position of power, and the people who agree with his opinions will not be persuaded otherwise by his death.
