As a proud resident of the Peoples' Republik of Taxifornia, I'd like to respond to each and every one of these claims:
1. I would have to question this one. Even our poor are pretty well off.
2. Guilty as charged.
3. Guilty as charged. We spend waaaaay too much on needless staff. They're like useless middle management. Teachers? We do need to spend more on them.
4. Guilty as charged. Our air is filthy, at least around our big cities.
5. Guilty as charged. We are inhospitable to business. I know this first hand.
6. Guilty as charged. No need to vote if there are only democrats on the ballot... usually.
7. What high speed rail line? That boondoggle of a project has been cancelled. The feds deserve to get their money back!
8. Guilty as charged. Yes, our middle class is shrinking.
9. Guilty as charged. Super guilty in fact. Although, we've passed ballot measure after ballot measure to rebuild our infrastructure, particularly roads, yet somehow... it's not getting rebuilt. Our roads are like mine fields only with potholes. In the last general election, the only money grabbing ballot measure that didn't pass is the one that would truly benefit all of us, which was funding to update the storage systems and delivery systems for drinking water.
10. Guilty as charged, sadly.
11. Guilty as charged, probably. I guess this one has a huge subjective element to it, because we're still in America, so we have some fundamental freedoms that it will take longer for them to chip away. But yes, our gubment is, on the whole, fairly oppressive to anyone who isn't of like political thinking.
