The reason why Conservative thinking seems to be so superficially two-dimensional and binary, an almost cartoonish good vs evil, is because it is amygdala-based 'thinking' - automated, reflexive, simplified to minimize any additional thought processes that might be needed.
That is the purpose of Conservatism, after all, to avoid the confusing complexities that could come in with new conditions and thoughts and ideas. Change can be to bewildering, difficult to deal with for some. An ossified worldview eliminates this and the anxiety that may attend it for those not cognitively inclined towards encountering and encompassing new possibilities.
