The greatest danger to this country is not putting Biden under the same microscope.

The greatest danger to this country is putting Biden under a microscope while ignoring that which doesn't need one - Trump.

Have we crossed the Rubicon yet? This will be a defining moment in American history. If Trump is prosecuted and found guilty on these flimsy charges, all those who want to overthrow American democracy will have won. Both Democrats and Republicans need to stand up to this tyranny.

At some point you're really just going to have to accept that you've thrown your lot in with a stupid criminal - both Democrats and Republicans should be standing up for the rule of law, but for some reason, a sizeable percentage of the latter are so enamored with their cult of personality that they'll happily piss on the constitution to put the idiot in power to attack those they see as their enemies.

“As president, I could have declassified, but now I can’t,”

“Secret. This is secret information. Look, look at this, this was done by the military and given to me.”

“Well, with Milley – uh, let me see that, I’ll show you an example. He said that I wanted to attack Iran. Isn’t that amazing? I have a big pile of papers, this thing just came up. Look. This was him, they presented me this – this is off the record, but – they presented me this. This was him. This was the Defense Department and him. We looked at some. This was him. This wasn’t done by me, this was him.”

“All sorts of stuff – pages long, look. Wait a minute, let’s see here. I just found, isn’t that amazing? This totally wins my case, you know. Except it is like, highly confidential. Secret. This is secret information. Look, look at this.”

You are mistaken. I would never vote for Trump. Those in power are the ones threatening Democracy. I want to have the right to vote against Trump. DOJ should not be weaponized to do the bidding of the political elite. I am a Democrat and I'm voting for Kennedy in the primary. Maybe he will be able to take back the Democratic Party for the people.

Holding a stupid criminal accountable for his crimes is not the threat to democracy - abandoning the rule of law because the stupid criminal has been president and wants to be again is however a clear and present danger.

How many times have they tried to "get" Trump so far? I'm losing count. I see the corruption within my own party. Why can't you see it? Sure, the Republicans are corrupt too, but they are not in power.

So you are saying the US justice system doesn't work or that it does work? You can't have it both ways. A two-tiered justice system is no justice system at all.

"They" (the prosecutors) have never tried to "get" Trump - they've just done their jobs in providing the copious amounts of evidence of his wrongdoing to grand juries who in turn did their jobs indicting the dumb criminal.

You see, this isn't about parties at all, just the rule of law.

So you are OK with impeaching Biden if he is found guilty of corruption? Correct? It's about the rule of law?

Complete non-sequitur, but yeah - if Biden committed high crimes and misdemeanors, impeach away and throw his ass out of office.

Moreover, if he was found to have committed actual crimes, as has been the case with Trump all along, he should be tried in court criminally as well - president or not.

Trump was never convicted. Impeachment, sexual harrasment, Bragg Investigation, etc. all turned up nothing. Trump is a liar and an a-hole, but he's not a criminal. The classified document charge is very small even if he is guilty.
1 up, 12mo
Impeachment is congressional approval to begin the judicial proceedings to hold him up for trial. Trump was impeached twice, but acquitted both times with all democrats voting yes and some republicans voting yes every time. Needs to be a 2/3rds vote to indict....

Good luck getting 16% of Democrats to agree to indicting Biden.
Then again, Republicans wanted to indict Clinton for getting a bl***ob in the oval office, but after two separate impeachements, one about inciting an attack on the capitol, and one about extortion to another country... nope, those are all offenses not worthy of impeachment, evidence be damned.

Outside of impeachment which is a legislative, not judicial process, he'd never been indicted until two months ago.

His organization, it's CFO, his personal fixer, and dozens of his henchmen have been convicted in courts of law - he was even a known party to Cohen's crime (remember Individual #1?), and they've all acted on his orders, so yeah - he's a criminal.

Using the law to persecute a political rival is dangerous. This could be the end of the American experiment with democracy. When the bar is lowered there is nothing stopping the Republicans from doing the same thing. Violence will follow just like in the 3rd world.
3 ups, 12mo
So what is he being indicted for? Mishandling classified documents? Exactly what did he do?
4 ups, 12mo
31 counts of willful retention of classified documents
1 count of conspiracy to obstruct justice
1 count of withholding a document or record
1 count of corruptly concealing a document or record
1 count of concealing a document in a federal investigation
1 count of scheme to conceal
1 count of making false statements and representations.
4 ups, 12mo
If that were what's happening, you might have a point, but prosecution for lawlessness is not political persecution - it's just being held accountable by the law.
4 ups, 12mo
This will be just another nothing burger like all the other times. This will only make Trump more popular, and I'll have to hear even more of Trump's narcissistic ramblings in the media.
0 ups, 12mo
Impeach all you like.

I'll let the Senate decide if what he's done is worthy of indictment.
Just like it did with Trump :D

The thing is, that's what happens in a democracy. So it's really not a danger to democracy. We are a Constitutional Republic, which is to be a check on democracy. This shit isn't supposed to happen when the Constitution is followed properly. The real danger to the Republic is when public servants shit on our Constitution.

I’m beginning to read the indictment against Trump. But even three pages in, it’s clear that the leaks that preceded the indictment are far too close to what is actually being pleaded by DOJ to be a coincidence.

For example, in paragraph 6a on page 3, we hear about the recording of the Bedminster call, which the MSNBC’s of the world have been beating a dead horse about for quite a while based on such leaks.

This means that Trump's lawyers could not possibly be the source of the leaks.

Ergo, the leaks are coming from DOJ. They must be investigated and punished.

Also, this is grounds for granting a motion highlighting jury pool poisoning and dismissing the indictment before it reaches even its one-month birthday.

All of this is so outrageous; it shocks the conscience. It’s fundamentally anti-American.

Just to be accurate, the Senate votes on impeachments, not the House. The House presents "Articles of Impeachment", which are the accusations, while the Senate votes whether or not to impeach the President. Both attempts the Senate voted "No" on impeaching Trump, so Trump was never impeached.
