We maintain deterrent forces throughout the world. To keep our allies from being overrun. The idea that this is the only way out is absurd. Trump drew down forces without an appreciable loss of territory. So should we evacuate South Korea?Western Europe? Defending incompetence is not new to the left and should be expected. The idea that anyone supports this cut and run disaster and tries to defend this fiasco based on partisan politics is indicative of an inability to grasp reality or just plain ignorance.

I agree. There are probably countless ways we could have left. Trump planned for us to leave Afghanistan months sooner than this even and if you think his plan would've stopped their president Ashraf Ghani from immediately fleeing the country the way he did, I think you're playing yourself.

Anyways what I'm basically saying is if we bring (all) the troops home from Afghanistan, no matter what method, how slowly we do it, how quickly we do it, or how much more money we spend doing it, the most sav mofos in Afghanistan will take over the country. After we leave, they take over. It's as simple as that.

South Korea is a totally different situation. How many any US troops been killed there? I mean even going back 60 years.. There is little direct risk to us being there and an obvious reason to be there. Also if we did leave S. Korea and Kim Jong Un attacked them, I seriously doubt their government would just immediately let them take over the way Afghanistan did... Just saying.

The North Koreans hacked two officers to death in the DMZ. There is always risks for troops stationed in a foreign assignment. The point is there we’re thousands of better options to get out. Biden and the top brass are incompetent. Even more disturbing is the lack of ability to foresee this by the Defense and security teams that were supposedly so much better. This didn’t happen during Trumps term this is all Biden.

Afghanistan will be hard to counqer because the Taliban has control over the Hindu Kush mountains and they are Recruiting more insurgents in Pakistan. This is why we failed for over 20 years in Afghanistan and what even the Purpose to counqer when 2,312 Americans had died and we put in 812 Billion Dollars. I'm not a liberal but I think Afghanistan was a failed mission.

Some of the biggest humanitarian violations is happening in Afghanistan and the people who profess to represent such oppressed people are silent.
From what I read the troops they sending back are only to help in evacuating embassies, not to reclaim Afghanistan. Which if they do decide to reclaim Afghanistan it will be more difficult now.

I tried joining the Army a few months ago, I passed everything but I need to get my tremors checked out. I have slightly shaky hands that gets worse when I am angry, nervous, and or cold. I can keep it under control and even at my worse I am not that bad. I got my CCDW license a few years ago, I had to pass a shooting test with a handgun to get it. If it wasn't for the shaky issue I would already be in by now. Hopefully when I go to present my records and get checked out I can convince the docs that it won't be an issue.
I believe our military is a global force for good and I believe we was doing good in Afghanistan. We brought freedom to a region largely devoid of the freedoms many Americans take for granted over here.
