He was a gas bag, but I sure miss him.
And he WAS right, on so many things, that when he said them, seemed just preposterous.

He literally lied about just about everything.
Even about where his father was born.

Well, ya got me there, with the birthplace thing. Accordingly, I feel anyone that lies about a birthplace should be impeached twice, and stricken from the history books as an illegitimate POTUS.

Do you honestly believe the stuff you say? Because literally nothing you said here is true. We're facing hyperinflation and likely the collapse of the US dollar, just like Weimar Germany or Venezuela. That's a fact that must penetrate even your arrogance.

Gas prices cratered (absolutely fell through the floor) last year due to the global shocks to the economy inflicted by the Covid pandemic, the likes of which we’ve never seen in our lifetimes.

Now gas prices are climbing back up just as the rest of the economy is steadily getting back to normal over this Covid thing. All that is natural and expected.

Gas prices in my area are still lower than they were at certain points during Trump’s term.

Venezuela-style hyperinflation? Collapse of the U.S. Dollar? Get real. But put all your assets in gold and Dogecoin if you’d rather. I hear Elon Musk’s joke about it on SNL caused Dogecoin to tumble by 25% - sounds like a real stable asset.

Bruh, gas prices were at around the $2 mark well before Covid hit. Maybe not in your area, but they have been low for most of the nation. I travelled a lot across this country well before Covid and they were all around the $2 mark across multiple states. They certainly dipped even lower during Covid, but they normalized by the start of summer 2020 back to around $2, due to people travelling again. Only a few months into Biden's presidency and gas prices soar to nearly $3 a gallon and continue to rise. But that's not all. All sorts of consumer goods are having their prices skyrocket.

Tl;dr: Prices of items getting higher is not a sign things are recovering, it's a sign that items we all need are harder to come by and that things are getting worse. Factor in that the government is still mass printing money for unemployment, which is paying people more to sit at home and not work instead of going out and producing things, and it's a hole we'll likely never dig out of. But hey, what do I know, I'm just a student of history.

Republicans are looking for some way to hit Biden on the economy, and gas prices are higher than they have been, an easy-to-spot thing that everyone notices on a regular basis, so it’s a natural line of attack. I get it. But the critique is really superficial.

Gas prices fluctuate for all sorts of world-economic reasons unrelated to the President. Covid is the overwhelming reason for the dips and the rises we’ve seen over the past year. If they’re within the same range of the past 5 years (and they are) I’m not gonna fault Biden.

Yes, inflation’s higher now than it’s been in the past. But “Venezuela-style hyperinflation” is hyperbole.

We’re on the right track, but it is still going to take awhile to fully dig out of the Covid crisis. The economy is recovering in its own naturally, but this is also a good time for big investments in our future with interest rates being so low, a lot of people still out of work, and the ongoing need to transition to a greener economy. Just what the Biden Administration is proposing and doing.

Inflation is one economic indicator, but it’s not the whole picture. A moderate amount of inflation is fine. If prices ever do start skyrocketing, and there are empty supermarkets and bread lines around the block like Venezuela I’ll be right there with you calling for a return to the years of God Emperor Orangeman.

But that’s not gonna happen, because we’re not a fragile petro-state. We’re a gigantic balanced modern economy and the dollar is still the world’s reserve currency.

Your side is the definition of superficial complaints. Saying Trump is a fascist, racist, sexist, obese, mentally challenged, eats too much ice cream, etc... and making up any claim to try and get rid of him. Then you voted for a man who embodies almost all those characteristics to an even higher level than Trump and defend him even when you admit Biden is wrong just to spite your opposition. You've lost any right to complain about "superficial critiques".

"Yes, inflation’s higher now than it’s been in the past. But “Venezuela-style hyperinflation” is hyperbole."

Again, read what I've posted. We're facing hyperinflation; the money supply has been rapidly increased, unemployment is skyrocketing, Biden is spending obscene amounts of cash to keep people not working, and prices across the board are going up (not just gas). We're only coming up on the beginning of it, and it's going to get a whole lot worse over the next few years. Venezuela and Weimar Germany didn't go from the currency having some reasonable purchasing power to wheelbarrows of banknotes to buy a loaf of bread overnight, it happened over time. But hey, what do I know, I'm just a student of history.

" A moderate amount of inflation is fine"

Yaas, fk the poor and the retireds who have to live on a buget, we need 2 fund pakistani gender programs and blow up moar kids in the Middle East joebiden4eva

China: Now this looks like a job for me
The only reason our currency is on top is because we currently have the military power to force other countries to use the dollar. Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddafi were well known for wanting to get off of using the US dollar for international trade and look what happened to them. Yes, we can preserve the dollar's place as the world's foremost currency as long as we remain the biggest bully on the playground, but as soon as China overtakes us as the world's most powerful economy, the yuan will replace the dollar just like that, and the importance and value of the dollar will collapse.

“Poor and retirees” [and anyone else on a fixed income]

I almost mentioned them myself as an exception to the general rule that inflation is fine. Yes, these are the two big groups who are most hurt by inflation. That’s why we ought to craft policy responses - regular minimum wage hikes and chaining social security benefits to inflation. Shit Democrats have always advocated for and Republicans have opposed for years.

China is the 800-pound gorilla of this century. No doubt about it. An existential threat to U.S. dominance the way climate change is an existential threat to humanity. If there is any way to beat China in the long run, it’s by reaffirming our core commitments to democracy at home, our historical alliances abroad, and generally being a model global citizen. It’s laughable to think Trumpism is equipped to do any of that. Trumpism is fundamentally opposed to all that. Trump wants to pretend that Twitter sound and fury against China is a substitute for smart policy. It’s not. May as well Tweet about sending a man to Mars without building the damn rocket.

Did I say Tweet? Poor choice of words. Of course he can’t do that anymore, or post to Facebook. He’s up for review again in 6 months at FB at least, maybe if he tried saying I’m sorry about that whole attempted coup thing?

Apparently Trump just launched a new blog that hardly anyone reads but I’m sure is chock full of MAGA-fied wisdom.

"That’s why we ought to craft policy responses - regular minimum wage hikes and chaining social security benefits to inflation."

Yet again, you miss the obvious. Most businesses already operate on a shoestring budget. Forcing them to pay more will force them to either shut down, lay off employees, or turn to automation. But just for the sake of your argument, let's ignore that and say we do your proposed minimum wage increase to the $15 an hour most leftists are clamoring for. Biden is paying those on unemployment approximately $16 an hour to stay home. Ask yourself: would you rather make $15 an hour doing minimum wage work or $16 an hour and staying home? Nobody in their right mind is going to choose working for less money than they could be getting for doing nothing. You want to truly help people get money in their pockets while making sure they have the option to work? UBI. Andrew Yang had this figured out, I don't see why none of you will go for it when you're already blowing through trillions of dollars.

"If there is any way to beat China in the long run, it’s by reaffirming our core commitments to democracy at home, our historical alliances abroad, and generally being a model global citizen."

Oh spare me. You've been rioting for over a year, did everything in your power to make sure you got your way in the election, and even discussed seceding from the Union if you didn't get your way (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transition_Integrity_Project). You couldn't care less about democracy and you couldn't make it more obvious without shouting it from the rooftops. And I'm an American citizen, thank you very much. I couldn't care less about what other countries think is a model citizen, because America is my home.

"It’s laughable to think Trumpism is equipped to do any of that."

Yes, because what Biden has been doing has been working sooo well. Oh wait...

Joe Biden is the laughingstock of the world. Putin and Xi are walking all over him and will continue to do so as long as he remains president.
