The president first posed the question April 23 after William Bryan, undersecretary for science and technology at the Department of Homeland Security, presented a study that found sun exposure and cleaning agents like bleach have an adverse effect on the coronavirus. Bryan was referring to the use of disinfectants on surfaces and in aerosols, but Trump asked whether the chemicals could be used in a potential COVID-19 treatment, as well.

Many lives were saved with Hydroxychloriqude. No one died because of that drug, they died because they were either too late or they just weren't saved soon enough. They died because of the virus.

Hydroxychloroquine has been in common use as a prescription for over 70 years. There are millions who have taken it. LOL ... you are so desperate.

FDA cautions against use of hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine for COVID-19 outside of the hospital setting (REPEAT: OUTSIDE OF A HOSPITAL SETTING)

It hasn't been proven to work on CV-19.

You idiots keep spreading misinformation but even Fox news stopped saying it was a cure.

Two guys (Trump supporters) in Georgia drank bleach to cure CV-19 this weekend. You guys keep doing that but you are putting others at risk with your nonsense. This drug treats lupus and was taken from lupus patients to be hoarded by red states. it doesn't work.

if it did, it would have been used.

LOL, Google is your friend:

Two people in Georgia drank liquid cleaning products over the weekend in misguided attempts to ward off COVID-19, according to the Georgia Poison Center. Both men had histories of psychiatric problems and are expected to recover.

The poison center’s director, Gaylord Lopez, said he did not know if the men guzzled the chemicals because they heard about President Donald Trump’s statements during a White House briefing, when the president wondered aloud if coronavirus could be treated by injecting something like a disinfectant into the human body to kill the virus (note that this is **similar** to what a vaccine will do when it's developed, i.e. help the body "disinfect" itself).

Since the pandemic began, at least two other Georgians have fallen ill from similar attempts to clean their inner organs with household chemicals, even before Trump’s remarks.

Bleach, motherf**ker. Where did he admit to telling people to DRINK BLEACH?? He talked about possibly injecting disinfectant, not DRINKING BLEACH. That was my original comment, nothing about INJECTING DISINFECTANT.

MY COMMENT: "So two morons drink bleach and it's because of Trump?

Sorry, but that isn't how that works. If they were dumb enough to drink bleach that's on them, not anyone else."

YOUR RESPONSE: (paraphrased) "Donald Trump told people to drink bleach and he admitted it in the video I just linked you to from some moron on Twitter."

Once again for the slow people: Donald Trump did not tell anyone to drink bleach. He asked a question about someway we might be able to inject some type of disinfectant into the body to kill the virus. He claimed he was not an expert and that experts should look into a way it could be done.

IF YOU'RE DUMB ENOUGH TO DRINK BLEACH BECAUSE YOU THINK SOMEONE TOLD YOU TO DO SO, YOU DESERVE THE CONSEQUENCES.

I'm not saying it can't help, but there have been problems with hydroxychloroquine. From this article: "Chloroquine is an antimalarial drug used to treat and prevent malaria; however, it has been known to have potentially serious heart side effects. Now, scientists working on a clinical trial in Brazil have been forced to stop part of their study of chloroquine as a possible coronavirus treatment after heart rhythm problems developed in 25% of people given the higher of two doses being tested." https://www.laboratoryequipment.com/563201-COVID-19-Treatment-Update-Remdesivir-Hydroxychloroquine-Leronlimab-Ivermectin-and-More/
[deleted]

Granted, there have been some issues, as usual with any drug. Ever watch those TV drug commercials? But to dismiss everything out of hand entirely when there are cases of good coming from it is insane. Note that it was the "higher of two doses" that caused the heart rhythm problems. France and China both are reporting some good success and the US has had some as well.

No one. Repeat: NO ONE should self administer ANY pharmaceutical or drug except under the care of a bona fide medical doctor with a current license (too bad we have to qualify it that far). Even the FDA says that hydrocloroquine should only be administed in a hospital, not at the local pet store in the aquarium cleaner aisle.

I'm intrigued by Spurs theory though. Would make a great NCIS episode.

Q: What does this EUA allow?
A: This EUA allows chloroquine phosphate and hydroxychloroquine sulfate donated to the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) and distributed to states to be used by licensed health care providers to treat adults and teens hospitalized with COVID-19 who weigh more than 50 kg (110 pounds). The drugs should be used when participation in a clinical trial is not possible and if the health care provider feels the potential benefit to the patient outweighs
the potential risk.

Q: Is there data showing that chloroquine phosphate or hydroxychloroquine sulfate might benefit patients with COVID-19?
A: In the lab, these drugs have been shown to prevent the growth of the virus that causes COVID-19. There are a few reports of patients with COVID-19 who received these drugs and improved. Some are reports of groups of patients, all of whom received the drug. It is not known whether it was the drug that led to the improvement or whether there were other factors involved. We do not know if the treated patients’ condition would have improved without the drug. To know this, there would have to be a group of similar patients who did not receive the drug (control).

Because chloroquine phosphate and hydroxychloroquine may possibly help very sick patients, FDA is allowing these drugs to be provided to certain hospitalized patients under an EUA issued March 28, 2020. Under the EUA, health care providers and patients are provided with information about the risks of these drugs. However, more data from clinical trials are necessary for us to determine whether chloroquine phosphate or hydroxychloroquine sulfate are safe and effective in treating or preventing COVID-19

Please do explain what the following has to with or is somehow "something like that" regarding bleach, Clorox, Windex, or tanning beds.

Chemotherapy uses drugs that kill dividing cancer cells and prevent them from growing. ... A person will often have chemotherapy as part of an overall treatment plan, which may also include surgery and radiation therapy. These treatments are effective in many cases of cancer

LOL, no. You didn’t. You asked them to confirm your preconceived bias if you talked to anyone at all.

I have talked with other experts that disagree with your non MD “colleagues.” They says yes, it IS “like that.”

Chemotherapy circulates throughout your body in the bloodstream so it can treat cancer cells almost anywhere in the body. So do other drugs that you deny even exist. This is how almost ALL drugs work. Surprised your esteemed “colleagues” are unable to understand this but that happens a lot with people who don’t actually do any medical research.

Oh, and the friends I have spoke with are two MDs that I’ve known for three decades and one nurse (my daughter) all of whom work at Sloan Kettering. You might look up that cancer hospital but I doubt you will.

Please stop wasting my time with this inane attempt to appear intelligent. You’re failing. Badly.

If you hate Trump and don’t want to support him. Go for it. It’s pretty obvious you’re full of hatred and disdain. But stop the extreme attempts to discredit my daughter and actual medical doctors who work for the premier cancer hospital in the USA.

You come across as really, really pathetic.
