Not even politically speaking here. This kid is trouble for everyone. He is too cozy with his dislike for "old" people.

I actually agree with that kid (at least on some level). yes it's true that a large % of the population is over 65, but i think its also true that the majority of the older people who can vote already do vote. Millennials on the other hand.....don't. So maybe some younger candidates to choose from would help encourage younger people to actually vote!

It's not just him, it's our culture. How many positive memes do you see here, generally? Only "mature" people are celebrities and politicians we make fun of for being old.
2 ups, 6y,

But really, I am referring specifically to him because he blatantly came out and said these things, AND he wants to run for congress. So that is why he is the focus here. Also, making fun of people for being old isn't really the same as thinking they should be discriminated against because of their age. We find humor in many things in regards to other people, but when it becomes literal discrimination and bias that is where it gets to be a problem.

Thanks for specifying that. I agree with you that he should not be dissing older people, or taking advantage of the Parkland tragedy. That's HIS immaturity showing. But I do feel like some "Political" memes are actually making fun of people they disagree with by mocking their appearance or age, and it's often the older people with leftist leanings. I guess that's probably a lot to do with a lot of younger people in general from all perspectives being on IMGFLIP. So I do understand your original point now.

I wholeheartedly agree. I don't wade into that end of the pool for that reason. I admit I first thought some of it was funny, but it's gotten old. No matter which side it is that is the target. I am hoping the downright nastiness we are seeing is just a passing ship.

I'm getting better about steering clear of the sewer, too.I have my opinions, but unless I can do something really creative or funny, I try to be creative other ways.

I have also had the unfortunate lesson of learning who to ignore and to whom I should respond. There are some extremely intensely hostile folks out there. I had one follow me around to other threads and make repeat comments trying to taunt me back in when I was sleeping all night. Crazy!

Further, what does President Trump have to do with David Hogg's remarks? How do YOU feel about his comments?

18-year-olds routinely say and do stupid things and their brains are hard-wired to have a limited understanding of long-term consequences. He is correct that older generations have failed his generation, though, and that we need more gun control.

Generally speaking, I could care less about David Hogg, particularly when there's a philandering, felonious dumpster fire in the White House.

Gun control is irrelevant to the fact that this generation has been raised in a freaking bubble. When I was growing up we endured the horrors of disappointment, not getting a blue ribbon just for showing up, having our feelings hurt and having to actually wait for something once in a while, being bored, going into the great out doors and getting a scraped knee without getting rushed to the ER for life saving treatment, a lunch that wasn't packed in a bento box. Not to mention all this constantly ridiculing and making fun of people for sport wasn't the popular pass time. Yeah, it happened, but nothing like today where you can't escape it because they chase you down online to publicly humiliate you. We didn't have "my baby din' do dat" syndrome either. When we were out being a bully( or any other misbehavior) we received consequences for it. Discipline was large and feared and it kept our asses in line.

This generation has been failed miserably and it is their own parents fault., Gun control will not undo the lack of proper upbringing this generation has received.

ACTUALLY, I didn't "attack" him at all. I pointed out how he is attacking people for the crime of being old soooo..... whatever! Also, you fail to understand my point, but that's expected! You know I'm right and you have no logical way to dispute any of what I just posted in that last comment so you are now grasping at straws to try and put words in my mouth and distort what I actually said and meant.

Calling someone a "danger to society" isn't attacking them? OK, sure. That makes perfect sense.

Interesting how you completely dodged my question about gun control. Please do share: how do you feel about gun control?

No, it isn't attacking them at all. It is stating a view of that person. Of course what may be defined as an attack is a subjective opinion. You may feel that it is. I did not didge your question. I answered it, you refused to acknowledge my answer. You said that the previous generation failed the current. I told you exactly how they failed them and then told you that gun control will not fix what is a direct result of all that I mentioned. You continue asking my feelings on gun control, and aI will continually tell you that gun control is not a solution. You will continue to pretend that I have didged the question. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. The problem is that no one seems to be able to examine where the real problems are and make an effort to fix them. It is instead easier to say, "we need gun control!" Because it requires no effort.

"Attack: to assail with unfriendly or bitter words."

I like YOUR mental gymnastics in attempting to make my meme into an attack. You may not agree, but there are times in life when people will not agree with other people and they may express their dislike for what was said or done. That does not equate to an attack.

I do like how you avoid speaking on how you feel about Hogg's attack on "old" people. I mean, you tried to brush it off by saying that teenagers routinely say and do stupid things. But does that mean he gets a free pass?
3 ups, 6y
You called him a sh*t stain, which is apparently now a compliment. Duly noted.

I already explained how I feel about David Hogg: He’s right about a few things and I otherwise don’t give sh*t about him.

This is getting tedious.

Attacks are made directly TO the person. Unless he is here and I am speaking TO him I am not attacking him. You can go away from here and say whatever you like about me but unless you say it TO me it isn't an attack. It's just talking behind my back. There is a difference.

If it's so tedious, then why do you persist? Do you enjoy my company? :)

What one persons construes as "unfriendly and bitter" is subjective. You can attempt to use the dictionary to claim an attack if you like but here's this. By YOUR own logic, the very remarks made by Hogg are also an attack, as is this entire conversation as I definitely construe your interaction to be unfriendly as well as bitter. So as soon as you are all done being a hypocrite we may be able to have an actual conversation.
3 ups, 6y
You're attacking Hogg for attacking people, and I'm the hypocrite? I don't think so.
