Damn, haven't heard about the lake. All they say on the news is when red tides mess up swimming at beaches, but at least those are not in a confined space like Okechobee.

As ex of mine moved there last fall, and she was complaining about the heat in the winter! I gotta check her Facebook to see if the dingbat melted yet. She's had friends that moved there and came back after a couple of years, she knew the deal.

Yeah, the phosphorus-caused green alge and red tide is killing off all the marine life and hurting the fishing and tourism industry. It’s bad. This is a pic of the nasty green water released from the lake, and it’s after effect...

Owens copied Jeong’s tweets using different races and religions. She replaced black people for white people. Jeong was never suspended for those tweets. However, Owens is a conservative and Jeong is liberal. I was pointing out the dual standard. Oh, by the way, Candace Owens is black.

reply
0 ups, 1 reply
It worked for the romans.. it worked for the chinese. Did you actually read history books? Hadrian's wall was manned consecutively for hundreds of years, and proved a fairly effective barrier against picts and others crossing into the south. The wall built by the soviets seemed to be quite effective at keeping their people in, no? Even the great wall proved effective as both a border control mechanism and military defense. Your lack of education is showing.
reply
0 ups, 3 replies
Did you even research what you said?

https://bigthink.com/philip-perry/3-border-walls-from-history-and-what-they-tell-us-about-trumps-proposal

And by the way? A more common way immigrants come into our country is using visas and overstaying. So, by plane. If you're going to say "lack of education" then at least use sources and look up stuff you say. I'm waiting for proof that this wall would save more money than cost us. No one has done this. At all.
reply
0 ups, 1 reply
It won't save money, and it won't stop people that aren't coming by the border. With sensors to detect tunneling, it could maybe prevent that. Building the wall may cost billions, maintaining it would not. It isn't about turning a profit, it's about keeping our country secure.
0 ups
Yes, it would cost money to maintain due to animals, weather, deterioration, etc. Structures always need money to be maintained. And now sensors? And jesus that's insane spending. And it's not even stopping the issue you claim we have.
reply
0 ups, 1 reply
did you actually read the article you posted? ALL examples given of why those walls "failed" involved literally being invaded by an army. The article doesn't even MENTION their use as border control, only as military fortifications.
0 ups
I'm still waiting for source on how the border will save money. And how it stops illegals that aren't going by border. Which is most of them. And even if that wasn't the case and most are crossing the border, does it stop tunnels? How will guards keep an eye on thousands of miles? How do we maintain the border without spending billions? It's just not a good idea.
reply
0 ups, 1 reply
I didn't say it wouldn't cost money, I said it wouldn't cost billions. What did you think the billions included? Just steel and concrete? Have you actually read anything about the proposed wall at all? Sensors have ALWAYS been part of the plan.
0 ups
Yes, it will because it will always cost money to fix for the rest of its existence. And do we know all the tunnels? You also never answered how we will keep track of thousands of miles of the border. And again, do you have proof to show this wall will be even half as effective as you keep saying it will?

You're statement shows your ignorance of the subject.

He's separated less children from their families than any other president since Bill Clinton started the policy.

He ended the policy of child separation and made reunification a top priority. (He deserves the Peace Prize for that one)

The people who's jobs it is to reunite the families have done an amazing job. About 1500 of 2500 have already been reunited. Amazing numbers considering about 50 of 100ish minors under 5yo cannot be reunited because of safety reasons.

Trump demanded an impossible deadline for a reason: to make sure people work fast. He's done more good for illegal immigrants than any president in history.

It really bothers me that the media has lied to people so much about that topic. I live in ground zero for immigration and I'm dating an immigration attorney who works her ass off helping those kids.

My only complaint about Trumps policy is the lack of amnesty for people who've already been living here for several years and have established themselves in their communities. He should really have a policy in place to help those people gain legal status. I think it would completely change his image for the Hispanic community. He'd be unstoppable in the next election.
reply
2 ups
I can see amnesty only if Congress does screw over Trump like they did to Regan. They promised Regan many things regarding immigration if he gave amnesty. Regan fullfiled his part, Congress didn't return the favor. I would be in favor of limited amnesty as long as chain migration was stopped and the borders secured with a wall.

Got a question for you: you know this issue of separating kids from their parents....is it true that this also took place during Obama’s 8 years and yet NOBODY made it an issue about it until Trump was president?
reply

It's been happening since Bill Clinton. I know with certainty it was happening while Obama was in office because I got to hear the stories from attorneys and social workers.

It's only an issue now because the msm owned by people who are controlling the DNC's agenda thought they could use it as a weapon against Trump. Fortunately, only people who don't try to do even a little research actually believe that propaganda. Unfortunately that's about half the country :/

My source? How about people that actually work in the immigration system helping kids...

I get better info than any journalist you've ever read an article from. I live in ground zero, I get to meet social workers and volunteers, I've been dating an immigration attorney who specializes in child cases since Obama was in office.

I've already explained how child separation works to you. I guess you just dismissed it.

Previously, if a family got caught crossing illegally, and could prove they were in fact family, then they would be sent to a family detention center if there was room available. Problem was there was almost never room available. As soon as space was open it was filled. Legally the families in custody would have to be sent somewhere. So, they would be separated and sent to women's facilities, men's facilities, or child facilities. These separations were what happened most of the time. The propaganda you posted is lying.

I'll admit that Trump had a higher RATE of family separation. However, this was only over the course of a few months. Previous administrations had lower rates but they were spread over 8 years. Even if Trump rounded up 10x as many families he wouldn't touch the numbers of previous administrations. It's simple math.

You can google "how many families have been reunited" to find the numbers I posted. Several articles by leftist propaganda can verify them.

Let's compare:

Citing an article or news story written by a reporter who asked a sources questions to fit their agenda

Or

Citing the same sources directly and asking questions with the intention of actually understanding what's happening

I'll let you decide.

Trump currently has some of the best information at his disposal, he is potus after all. I've never heard him cite Fox for anything but I have heard him praise them. I've seen the lies of the fake news firsthand and understand why they hate Trump so much.

There's a lot more to it than American politics. Trump stopped a major shift in world economics that would have crippled the American economy almost immediately after taking office, sealing his fate with the media who are owned by the foreign powers he offended. The media is a tool to promote a foreign policy that will leave our country in an unpayable debt. It's the most important issue today and almost no one is even aware of it. Why? Because the media doesn't report it.

But I digress...
reply
0 ups
You've clearly never seen his Twitter then where he constantly quotes Fox News when it praises him. Because everything is about Donald Trump's fragile little ego. You say he has the best information yet he for months argued with the findings of the CIA and FBI when it came to Russia's involvement in the 2016 election. "I believe Putin when he said he didn't do it." Trump is such a stable genius he doesn't know the difference between "I have no reason to believe they would do it" and "I have no reason NOT to believe they would do it."

But I digress

A Trumper taking me to task for rudeness. That’s hilarious. You elected an IRL troll precisely because he’s an asshole to people to don’t like. Don’t lecture me about politeness.

Back on topic: Here’s another article. I doubt that you’ll read it, but explains that hundreds of migrant children are still not reunited with their parents. Grind can try to whitewash it all he likes, but Donald Trump’s child separation policy is an unmitigated disaster that will have permanently damaged a lot of these children. That’s on you and your guy. Own it.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/jul/26/trump-administration-family-separations-children-reunited

Now, the smart play here would have been to blame Jeff Sessions or DHS for the massive cock-up that this was, but there are two problems with that. First, you’d have to be well-informed enough to know that they probably bear the brunt of responsibility. Second, blame would still fall on the Trump administration, and therefore on Trump himself. Some of his supporters can’t admit that the man has faults, so that’s a no-go.

There's so much propaganda in that article! Ironically the actual facts are even more flattering than what I posted. Over 1800 reunifications! Of the 700 remaining 430 are ineligible because their parents have been deported. Very sad, the kids can either search for a sponsor or follow their parents home.

What that article doesn't tell you is that the other 270 kids are ineligible because their parents have been found to be violent criminals or are not even actually their parents.

You're trolling, you have to be. Let me guess, you typed in that google search I suggested and found this article. Told ya so.

Do people really gobble up all that emotional propaganda? Do you actually buy it? I hope you're just trolling, otherwise you're an idiot.

The part that you lied about was that there were more child separations at the border under Clinton, Bush, and Obama, and that Donald Trump should be commended for stopping their policy. It's his policy, he owns it, and he was forced by the courts to put a stop to it and reunify the families.

And you still can't provide a single citation to disprove it, but I honestly don't mind educating you. Here, this article is about Donald Trump being forced to by the courts to reunify the families: https://www.cnbc.com/2018/06/27/us-judge-orders-reunification-of-immigrant-parents-and-children.html

It's surprisingly difficult to find any information that pre-dates Trump. I find this extremely disturbing. I know without any doubt that Obama was separating families, same as Trump used to, because of the stories and tears I witnessed from my gf.

How is it that the information is so suppressed? Perhaps nobody was asking the questions before it was brought to light as a weapon against Trump. Something is very wrong. It shouldn't have been this difficult.

I've managed to find a single article after 3 pages of a google search. Here is a relevant excerpt:

"During the Obama years, more than 40,000 U.S.-born kids whose parents had been deported were dumped into foster care."

https://www.google.com/amp/amp.sacbee.com/opinion/article213535029.html

Well, I don't doubt that. Obama deported more people than any of his predecessors, over 2.5 million people. 91% had criminal convictions, but still. It's a huge number and there were undoubtedly some sad injustices asking them.

The difference is detention, aka jail, vs. foster homes, but, yeah, it's going to be rough on families. This is not the policy that Trump overturned, though, and I don't doubt that he will beat Obama's deportation numbers.
