Typical of shortsighted liberals - see a meme about what is happening in Venezuela that happens to show a tank - and then focus on whether bullets can stop tanks because there happens to be a tank. Maduro & Cubans and Russians aren't just using tanks regardless of what you see in the gif.

Seriously... grow up

Then why show the tank then dummy? If the American government wanted you dead, you'd be dead.

Well you can't post a tank and not expect people to use that against you dipshit. Grab a brain.

So... you're saying I can't expect people to act like adults? NOW that's hilarious.

What? Act like adults? You mean believe your rhetoric without question? No challenge of the validity in your assertion? Roll over and share in your fear and paranoia? Seems legit.
3 ups, 5y,
1 reply
Fear and Paranoia? Should the citizens be paranoid of Maduro who stole an election, and then kill them when they have an uprising?

I think the idea behind all this is that an armed citizenship would prevent (or at least) slow down oppressive government so they won't hide like cowards behind steel vehicles. Also, bullets can penetrate glass and rubber. Just saying.

I'm pretty sure an AR-15 wouldn't stop a military vehicle

I can't speak for anyone else, but I know that I am not that important. If the government comes to take my rights, they will not send a tank or waste money on jetfuel. They will send men with guns. Fighting such men with kind thoughts has not proven to be effective.

The vehicles depicted are not tanks, as I'm sure has been pointed out.

It should also be noted that this is the middle of a national crisis, not the beginning.
3 ups, 5y,

The trick would be to shoot them before they get in the armored vehicles and run you down.
3 ups, 5y,

The government knows we have a shit ton of guns. They have missiles. And Jets. And bombs.

If they wanted to do it they wouldn't need guns. And our guns (I have a few) would be useless.
[deleted]
3 ups, 5y,
1 reply
Nice deflection. Typical, though from leftists such as yourself.

There are millions of private citizens with guns... Multiple guns in many cases. The government isn't using tanks and jets to bomb its citizens. Not happening.

And what's funny is the shit you're talking about, the government killing it's citizens with heavier artillery, would take place within a system you argue and fight for. Humorous.

no THEY aren't. You seem paranoid. Get better meds.
[deleted]
2 ups, 5y,
1 reply
It isn't paranoia. It's fact. Open your eyes and look around. Washington DC is virtually a gun free zone. Along with many other cities. They took the guns out of citizens hands. That's anti 2nd amendment.
1 up, 5y
No they didn't. there are guns everywhere. They basically banned guns in chicago too. Big deal. Indiana in around the block.

PS- you can still get guns in "banned" zones. It's just more "regulated."
[deleted]
1 up, 5y,
1 reply
You think regulation isn't anti 2nd amendment? The government has no right to regulate our guns. Their only job is to protect the border and uphold the constitution. Regulating weapons isn't their f**king job.

I'm also unclear as to what a gun is supposed to have done in that situation. My colleague was a Captain in the marines, and he doesn't get it either. I think there's more onus on you to explain this than you think there is.
5 ups, 5y,
1 reply
IDK... do you think that a whole uprising in Venezuela (if they did have any guns) would only be focused on "gun versus armored vehicles"?

Think beyond the tank.
[deleted]
4 ups, 5y,
1 reply
....yyyyyyes, that's kind of the point of an armored car. As a counter to personnel firearms.

I'm still not following what you're trying to say and my colleague just sort of laughed and went home.
3 ups, 5y,
3 replies
So... let me get this straight... you and you colleague think that the total sum of Maduro's military comprise only of Armored vehicles? That's my point and the fact that if the citizenry had weapons, they would have the means to provide some sort of defense against a socialist dictator. Sorry if you and your colleague can't understand that.
[deleted]
4 ups, 5y
Dictators don't pack the armored cars away just because the mob has their guns out.

Like, how does that work? "Ahhhhh, man, no, now it's not a fair fight. Put the tactical advantage away! Just have it a straight up shootout and let attrition decide. We can't be hiding behind armor for this, that's just not how this game is played."
[deleted]
3 ups, 5y,
1 reply
We never said that. What I'm not understanding is where you think the armored cars will be in a scenario where civilians have a higher rate of gun ownership - deployment against a crowd of people with guns being the entire purpose of owning an armored car to begin with.
4 ups, 5y,
1 reply
Well, mebbe you can provide us with all your expertise on how a people can overthrow a dictator who won't honor a democratic election without guns. Go ahead genius. we're all waiting.

Same as we did, as the playbook hasn't really changed a lot in three hundred years: you get in touch with a sympathetic foreign power who will supply you not just with armaments but also the training and organizational expertise that is required to win a war, and hopefully they'll also have the clout to embargo trade to cut off the government's money supply. (In our case, the French government.)
2 ups, 5y,

Sympathetic foreign powers... eh? You mean like Maduro getting in touch with Russia & Cuba?

0 ups, 5y
Yes, just like that, and because gump is so weak, and such a butt licker to putin, Russia now influences Venezuela and more are on the way. and who are you to say whether the election was legit or not?

it is like dunning kruger and cognitive dissonance had a brief fling behind the local piggly wiggly and had an illegitimate child!

the amount of incurious, uncritical thinking, propelled by ideology to confirm a pre-ordained conclusion is absolutely staggering.the people peddling this utter garbage should not be feeling self-righteous,or even smart.

they should be feeling shame for so blindly believing a narrative spoon fed to them by the very people seeking to exploit an entire country.

fuuuuuuuuuuck!
it Is like I reside in a country populated by cheepers.tiny baby birds just opening their mouths for their daily dose of regurgitated fluff.

did this happen? yes.
is the Maduro government deserving of criticism? yes.
does this equate to the toxic brew of banning guns+socialism=the current Venezuelan situation?

only to those who wish to manipulate you by appealing to your fears and anxieties to justify:a political US backed coup to retake the oil fields that the chavistas took back for the people over 20 years ago.

but god forbid any of you look at the history of US intervention in Venezuela.because that would mean taking responsibility, and maybe be forced to acknowledge some uncomfortable truths.

let's just project our fears and blame socialists.

I just...
I just can't anymore with some you..

If you can explain what all that has to do with the government running over its own citizens in a military vehicle, and whether or not bullets could have prevented it, then I'd listen to you. Otherwise, you just seem to be on a rant that may or may not have any validity.

Speaking for myself (which is rare these days) I can say that I try to only blame socialists for what they do, which in this case, is run over their own citizens with a military vehicle.

If the US army is who you are going to fight. How are you going to get the apb's to use? what good will they do against a drone? You should ask the fine folks of Syria how having lots of weapons around has worked out for them.

Using the argument that you need a gun to protect you from the government is ludicrous, using that argument we should all be allowed to have tanks, rpg's, grenades, drones, flame throwers, chain guns, etc etc etc....

While I agree with the general thrust of your argument, you are not entirely correct about the US army refusing to follow orders to kill civilian Americans. It happened in 1864-1865. The Union did not consider the Confederacy to be a sovereign nation, but rather a rebellion. Grant ordered Sherman and Sheridan to target civilians, and they did. The Union fired on its own citizens. There may be other examples.

This is all the more reason to be armed, IMO.

Your deflection over your amazingly stupid chunk of fluffed up idiocy is duly noted.

Law abiding citizens shooting cops?

Law enforcing soldiers and officers not shooting dangerous citizens on a rampage as they are trained to do?

Just another day in Dunning Krugerland for you, toots, eh?
