For those that aren't able to work, MREs would suffice to keep them fed.

Too bad the OP didn't research the calorie content of an MRE (1250-1540 calories) before suggesting that would solve the obesity problem. I bet the OP never had one. Not gourmet, but good tasting. Also fun, trading for favorite snacks, desserts, and beverage. Try one, you might like it.
