It was sarcasm. I apologize in forgetting (*sarcasm). I almost never forget that. Let's take this at face value. You seem reasonable, although tending to get defensive; I'm sure I have my own quirks. An accusation and trial for rape is no small thing. Trials much lesser than this bring down politicians. So there is no supposition in the snake oil analogy. Trump did use snake oil as it is meant to be used. It did foil the public into ignoring the accusations. It was an effective foil because usually the public is unforgiving to the average 'screw up' of course no pun. Yet that is now not my point. You yourself said that Trump did in fact make statements that were indeed offensive to women in the modeling world. I'm no run of the mill liberal who is triggered when beautiful women are described as being slighted. I have strong conservative leanings that help me disregard beauty, sanctity, purity as ideals unto themselves. Yet on the whole, I also recall those statements by Trump. Do you? His language was crude beyond compare for anyone in the public eye. It was detailed to the extreme -forgive me for NOT googling- about his grotesque fantasies about women again for a public admission. AND it had no misgivings or remorse that anyone could be so blatantly sexists as if this was par for the course for some kinds of overtly vile if not criminally prosecuted males. What can we possibly make of this. Few rap artists well know for their blatant sexist mores actually sing lyrics this bad. Yes some do, while turning around to defend their music as a freedom of artistic expression. Trump is not expressing himself as an artist. He's hating on women. So is that OK. Is, rhetorically, #metoo a well orchestrated scam to garner liberal support for scam liberal politicians and their scamming liberal ends. Is that what it sounds like, less rhetorically, or are women being taken advantage of en mass. Especially in supreme irony since one of the main criticisms of Biden is that he is some bona fide pedo. Where there is smoke there is fire should apply. Where there is one sexist women hating creep their is another. Except it does not because that is the game of sexism culture, which is to sow doubt from every angle about the legitimacy of all female views, narratives and accusations. Smoke screens of ridiculous self or other accusatory forums on all male proclivities that are so baseless no humans, including voters who elected both candidate monsters to office, can sort them out!
