Funny thing employment standards and the like is that businesses want professionalism not only in skill ability but also appearance. Also MLK Jr. never mentioned the following in his 'I have a dream speech' - clothing, hair color, head piercings that aren't limited to the earlobes, and visible tattoos.

While MLK Jr wanted equality for everyone, he also knew the importance of appearance and professionalism. If MLK Jr and the rest of the movement dressed up like a lot of protestors do today then civil rights bill would never have been passed.

Unless a person is applying to be a clown then a lot of what goes on doesn't have to fly.
