I'm sorry, I don't understand.
Isn't the whole point of America First is to establish that OUR money be used for US and US alone, yet we're allowed to suspend assets from our allies in South Korea so that Iran does not benefit?
Not to mention, that the 6 billion was released solely for use of Humanitarian reasons was not in US possession. This obsession whenever we return Iran's assets, money that Iran earned by legitimate capitalist trade, is quite a puzzling turn of thinking from the mindset of people who scream about the necessity or desire for a free market. Money that will still be closely regulated, by the US and it's allies, so that it's not used for nefarious means but, of course, that's not what MAGA is concerned about. Sure, you can argue that some money won't slip elsewhere or that it was ultimately pointless to release THEIR money as it HARMS our interests... But, as I understand it, our continued interference with other countries is what caused a lot of the conflict between American-Iran relations and that's MAGA's position that curtailing that is the first step in a potentially more diplomatic relationship with other countries. While, of course, still being somehow "strong" against them so that they pay THEIR fair share.
Isn't that why MAGA so fiercely defends Trump for his emboldened choice to befriend known dictators in China, Russia, and North Korea? In the interest of re-establishing diplomatic ties?
But when it happens under Biden, MAGA loses it's mind.
Not to mention, that Iran double-dealing with the US and terrorists is straight from our own playbook in the early 80s when we supplied both Iran and Iraq with the intent of a stalemate.
It seems to me, that MAGA appears to understand that our interference is exactly what causes these destabilizations and grows our unpopularity with these countries.
But when that country is Iran and not Russia, China, or North Korea; trying to repair those diplomatic relationship is antithetical to MAGA's interest.
It's a fascinating hypocritical position.
