Since he took office, the petroleum industry has been under assault from his administration. If he'd been asked, I would have loved to see him squirm on that one, because even the Squad would admit that's what they've been doing. And if you're expecting anyone to believe that he's saying production would magically bounce back for the 2nd half of 2021, given the aforementioned assault policies... then no. How dumb would a person have to be to believe that? It's not what his policies dictate, and that's not the direction we were going for that time period.

He also blathered on about something like 9K drilling permits not being used. Then he presented only one speculative side regarding why they weren't being used, and naturally that is the side that supported his lie about his administration not being the cause of less domestic production. He tried to blame lower domestic production on the greedy oil companies. He must think everybody that believes his lies are pretty stupid, because in order to fall for that, you'd have to believe that all 9K of those permits are for land that's just oozing with oil, which I can assure you they're not. How many of those permits will *never* go into production? I think a reasonable person would conclude that most of them will not, because they're either not potentially profitable, or they turned out to be a dry hole, petroleum-wise.

Sure, I get it, this isn't just about Putin outsmarting him at every turn; there's also domestic politics for his team to consider. They don't want him to look as bad at his job as he really is. So they lie.

And if he was at all interested in telling the whole truth, he wouldn't have lied and said the US is a net energy exporter. He would have said the whole truth, which is that as of 7/1/21, we were barely a net energy exporter. But again, he wanted to use that lie in order to tell his lie.

Haven't looked up comparison charts yet but if you've got some I'd be happy to take a peek. I just read a Washington post article while responding to someone else that kind of makes it seem like he's doing almost nothing as far as curbing oil drilling.

Also Biden's attempted halt of (new) drilling on federal land (which only accounts for a fraction of our oil.. compared to drilling on private land) was also blocked by the courts for at least 6 months... Might even still be blocked.

And even if the courts had not blocked Biden's halt and it had gone through, I don't think that would even effect whatever drilling operations were carried over from the Trump administration..... because that would not be new drilling. My understanding is that the halt would have only affected new drilling. Idk maybe I'm wrong about that though.
