I’m assuming these are the two incidents being compared since ABC has only fired one other person to my knowledge. I honestly don’t watch a lot of television.

It seems to me, Goldberg was confused on the issue and mistook that because the holocaust was about two groups of “white people” (her words) that it wasn’t about race. That’s an easy mistake given that you can convert to Judaism but you cannot convert to being any other race. Even though some have tried…

Rosanne Barr, on the other hand, made a racist tweet about a single individual.

Both women apologized shortly after but Barr was quick to blame medication for her tweet while Goldberg fully admitted to being wrong.

As for whether or not people are comparing Goldberg to Gina Carano from the Mandalorian… Carano doubled down on her comments about the Holocaust and was given ample opportunity to walk back on her statements. Though, I’m sure many here agree that Carano shouldn’t have had to.

Regardless, I don’t see how the comparisons have anything to do with politics.

It seems to me it was the content of what the person said and did as well what they did once they were rightfully called out.

She should be replaced with Roseanne Barr, she is smarter, more tolerant and funnier

I would support Satan himself if he mocked the terrorist supporting Muslim brotherhood but that is not what the meme is about.

Your support of Satan is noted.

However, you’re right it has nothing to do with the meme.

Whoopi Goldberg’s comments that the Holocaust wasn’t about race were ignorant but not from a place of hate. Goldberg herself is Jewish and believed the friction between two largely white groups of the time and era to be over religious reasons rather than racial ones.
Despite her own Jewish heritage, she was wrong. And admitted to being wrong hours after her mistake.

You brought up Barr, I assume, due to the fact that ABC was much harsher toward her than Goldberg. So, I posted Barr’s tweet in response to your comment for context.

Roseanne’s racial slur against vj (Valerie Jarret) were also from a place of ignorance as Jarret has no ties to the Muslim Brotherhood but rather the ISNA. And while the ISNA has been accused of having ties with the organization that many countries in the world currently recognize as a terrorist group, the ISNA has consistently died such claims and has repeatedly condemned radical Islam.

Given this context, it’s understandable why Barr was fired and Whoopi was not.

Wrong an all accounts but nice try. I can back Satan when he is right and still maintain my soul.

As for Whoopi's racist statements, she said it and had any of her white co-hosts made the same statement, they would probably be gone. As for her being Jewish, that doesn't matter unless you factor in Jewish by culture, religion or some other category, her racism is the only known here.

Roseanne insulting an Iranian agent was not racist it was patriotic, and she avoided insulting millions like Whoopi did, she should be hired to fill Whoopi's position on the view.

Back to the meme, in today's cancel culture anything you ever said no matter how long ago it was and no matter what you meant to say counts so whoopi should be fired and never allowed on TV ever again. That is probably the only leftist rule I could get behind.

If you openly support the actions of what makes your opponents wrong only if it forwards the agenda you support, then I’m very sorry to inform you that you’re just a hypocrite.

Wah, someone doesn't follow your twisted logic so you name call. Keep supporting racism if you want, I would rather you grow up.

Then clarify. My “name calling” is conditional. Not absolute.

If someone is wrong does it matter what their political alignment or agenda may be?

I agree that racism is a flawed human concept but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

Denying it exists and the sentiment to not focus on it are entirely two different things.

Far too often people speak of racism and are condemned for it. People who willingly repeat racist rhetoric are not equal to people who speak of racism.

I also agree that people people shouldn’t be disproportionally punished for their mistakes.

People who do have personal bias that is either racially or politically motivated may have a difference in opinion on whether either Barr or Goldberg should've been fired.

It would be far more consistent with your view of cancel culture that neither of them should be fired unless you're allowing your personal bias to inform your judgement of the two women to be disproportionate.

Barr and Goldberg’s personal race had nothing to do with their disproportionate punishments but rather the content of their statements as well as the context within them.
0 ups, 2y
We both agree racism exists, my point is twofold: we are all guilty of it (occasionally, it cannot be helped) and it is way over blown for political purposes. Like picking a Supreme Court justice because of gender and race, that should disgust everyone, and the nominee should be insulted.

I only inferred your were a hypocrite when you said:

“in today's cancel culture anything you ever said no matter how long ago it was and no matter what you meant to say counts so whoopi should be fired and never allowed on TV ever again. That is probably the only leftist rule I could get behind”

Both Barr and Goldberg were wrong but they were not equal in their errors.

Both apologized for what they said. The difference is that:

Goldberg admitted to her ignorance.

Barr denied what she said was racist, when it clearly was.

Please clarify or otherwise admit you are a hypocrite.

If someone is wrong does it matter what their political alignment or agenda may be?

Yes or no?

You totally missed the sarcasm. The cancel culture is an invention of the left, there are plenty of people punished for saying stupid things long ago but only conservatives really even seem to get punished. There is probably no one on this planet that has not said or done something that someone else would call racist, we are human, we say and do dumb things.

The hard truth is whoopi is protected because of her stolen Jewish name (cultural appropriation) and her skin color. If one of her white co-hosts used the name Toby to sound black and repeated the racist crap old whoopi did, there would be no doubt on suspension vs fired and blacklisted (can we still use that term?).

The problem with racism is it is mostly made up. Consider a mixed family, if two brothers born of the same parents but with different skin tones get mad and call each other the magic "N-word" you know the one that racist blacks will not let whites use, yeah that one. Anyway, two brothers, one light skin, one dark, use the same word in anger, someone not realizing they were brothers would likely only condemn the lighter brother. The darker toned child would be seen as the victim.

These accepted cultural rules are stupid, just admit everyone on the planet is a pack animal and the only difference between us and an animal is we pick our own packs, based on race, religion, sports, entertainment and dozens of other things.

Racism is the stupidest thing to judge anyone on, we are all guilty. We have, we will and will again, insult someone. Or is it racist to pretend you are not guilty?

Goldberg is not racist as her comments were not condemning people based on race but believed, wrongly, that the Nazi’s actions weren’t racially motivated

Barr’s statements were racially motivated as she compared a Muslim woman to looking like an ape and a terrorist.

Barr never took back her sentiment but only willingly deleted the statement. Her apology only indicated she shouldn’t have said what she said.

Goldberg took back her sentiment once she was rightly informed of her error which was never had any racist intent to begin with.

The only reason Goldberg was put on leave was due to the fact that it was unlikely anyone was going to look at the larger context of the issue she was addressing beyond her erroneous statement.

Barr was fired for her sentiment which had no legitimate justification and not just her statements.

Again, you do not get to decide who or why others took what she said as racism. To me she is guilty as sin, and I will always see it that way. Both er let's call them ladies are guilty of the same thing with completely different punishments. How much racism was used and why did not affect the punishment, skin tone might have and if so, that is also racism.

Oh exploited on a meme site? Bwahahahaha weakest argument I’ve ever heard. The answer is it’s a propaganda claim. Underrepresented? Where, which color people are underrepresented. If anything overrepresented on this site. If a color is 13% of the population then anything above 13% is overrepresented.

No one should be cancelled, but they started this bullshit cancel culture crap and now it's starting to bite them in their own ass. I don't want her cancelled, but I also wouldn't cry about it if she ended up that way. Apparently, they have no problem with one side being cancelled but can't take the heat when they get blasted.
2 ups, 2y
The right is also guilty of cancel culture. The left has also cancelled their own. That's what this whole whoopi thing is about. The left also sought Andrew Cuomo's resignation (and more) for his nonsense.

For rules to be fair, they must be applied to all people evenly. That's equality. If you believe she shouldn't be canceled, that means you agree the rules aren't fair.

Therefore if you believe that, then you also agree that Gina Carano and Roseanne should not have been canceled. That would be fair treatment, right?

Gina Carrano, Roseanne, Sharon Osborne. By the nature of her politics she and you support the people who enforce the culture. Then you want to cry about it when it comes home to roost. Free speech for everyone or no one. That’s how it works. If you support suppression of expression you don’t like you support cancel culture.
