It's weird. The left made similar accusations last Presidential election though the focus of their ire was how Facebook allowed for misinformation paid by foreign agents. The US government didn't care for that either.

Charging MSM for "crimes" for influencing the election is a nothing burger. That is not criminal.

The safeguards that were put in place to protect Facebook interests has nothing to do with what Frances Haugen is accusing Facebook of doing. Her primary focus is similar to the Cambridge Analytica debacle. Namely selling data to foreign agents and manipulating data that users do or don't see.

This isn't about removing misinformation, but only pushing political data toward people whom the algorithm deemed appropriate. Yes, this very well might've had an impact on the 2020 election, but it's not exactly criminal. That doesn't make it right, tho.

I think in order to be objective, we should apply a similar standard to this that was applied by Trump supporters whenever a negative tell-all book came out.

By that I mean we need to see what possible motivation this individual may have had for either telling the truth to make FB look bad, or lying to make FB look bad.

In this case, I'm inclined to take all of the reports at face value. I am naturally quite skeptical by nature though, so I tend to not take things at face value.
