My dad was white and as a teen he picked cotton in Alabama during the Great Depression. Lots of white people picked cotton, even during slavery. Only 7% of the population owned slaves. That meant that the other 93% had to pick their own cotton, or harvest their own wheat or whatever.

Yes, slavery ended in 1862 with the Emancipation Proclamation. The Great Depression started in 1929, 67 years after slavery had ended.

The vast majority of cotton farms in the South did not own slaves during slavery. So while black slaves were used to pick cotton, there were many more whites picking cotton.

Cotton production didn't stop just because slavery ended. So by the time my dad came around he and my grandfather were picking cotton for a living. My dad hated it and left when he was about 18 and headed for the city to find a job.

Yes, but that doesn't stop liberals from seeking out "allegorical slavery" to complain and shreik over.

Like, having to hold down a job.
Or pay off debts that they rake up.
Or anything grown-up they don't like.

That is what the rich and powerful do. Slave owners had to be well off enough to support the slaves and usually they were rich. When people are making money and have very little labor costs they tend not want to mess that up. So they get governments to declare war to protect them.

Makes me wonder how that logic would apply to todays standards.

The Progressives have been working for a century now to change our culture and our way of thought. They don't need war any more. They are winning the culture war with decades of propaganda. The ultimate goal is a global socialist government where everyone on the planet is a slave to the ruling elites. China is setting the example of how they want the world to work.

I can't say I disagree with everything in this statement. Some of it makes sense. If that's the case we might as well enjoy ourselves because it's gonna be a crazy ride.
