I personally know from news in those days that Kerry was the leader of Vietnam Veterans Against the War after being discharged. In testimony to Congress, he relayed accounts by his VVAW comrades of having “personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads ... razed villages in a fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan ...”

Later, it was shown that many of the stories on which Kerry based this testimony were false.

As for claims in the viral email about his military record, much of this was discussed during the campaign after the group Swift Boat Veterans for Truth questioned Kerry’s accounts and whether he deserved any of the commendations he received.

As a man from those times, I am witness to John Kerry and Hanoi Jane being against America and our soldiers. I was not a proponent for the war in Vietnam. However, I am against Kerry's lying about his fellow troops. Fellow anti-American, Hanoi Jane, actually posed on a North Vietnamese tank. And these are not shopped! I loved your meme, which is what reminded me of that scene from FMJ. Although, I embellished the quote a bit. But hey, this is imgflip, not the freakin' Associated Press, right?

It's been a couple years since I watched FMJ (maybe I'll rectify that this weekend...) so I looked up the actual quote, which came from Eight Ball who was trying to keep Animal Mother from tearing Joker a new a$$hole: "Now you might not believe it but under fire Animal Mother is one of the finest human beings in the world. Of course, with the US military being the systemically racist institution that it is, and was, particularly back in 1968, Animal Mother then told Eight Ball this insensitive and racist comment, which of course I disassociate myself from: "Hey, jungle bunny. All of R. Lee Ermey's quotes in the boot camp scene are priceless too. I got to meet him at Camp Pendleton around 2003. I got an autographed script, DVD, and 12 inch action figure. He was our guest speaker at the Gunny's Course. Really down to earth great guy.

I love the story about how he got the role. He was hired to help find the actor to play the role, right? But he was obviously so good at being a Gunnery Sgt., that Kubrick hired him. He was actually a pretty under-rated actor imo.

It would have.. if democrats honored our pledge to Vietnam. Technically it wasn’t a war we should have entered and that was JFKs blunder in the first place. They staged an attack to begin the invasion. Sound familiar? (ie, the Middle East).

Any who, by expediting our leave and pulling funding to South Vietnam is why we “lost” the war. Same thing we are doing in Afghanistan now.
