According to the wording of the order, it says masks are 'required'. This is not a suggestion. This is an order. They can't legally enforce it, but it's an order all the same. If it said, 'Masks are encouraged' then I'd be on your side here. As it stands, I must cross the line and oppose you.
I've lost friends to COVID. Please do not think I underestimate its lethality good sir/ma'am. I take it very seriously and scrupulously comply with all precautions required in public buildings. It's just common sense. Was it more dangerous than a nuke though? You're comparing a weapon of mass destruction, clearly evident and easily controllable, to a virus which every single state was unable to control and can harm others without the malicious intent of the spreader. This is the key difference that invalidates your nuke point. The percentage of people who would maliciously transmit this virus is infinitesimally small. Controlling the population of an entire state in their own homes is like deploying bunker-buster bombs to destroy an ant colony on a golf course. It's an overreaction, causes more damage than it prevents, and completely unnecessary.
Show me the laws that allow these "legal alternatives". Quarantine can be enacted under very specific circumstances, but there's no way we can actually ship people to medical camps. Anyone who supports that is a downright fascist, plain and simple.
I live in Montana. I've seen Native American Reservations and heard firsthand stories of the hell that they are. As an avid learner of history I know what we've done to them since Columbus' crew first abused the natives they found. I do not condone what happened to them, never have, and never will. However, the fact remains that we can't change history. We can only change the future. The Constitution, flawed as its writers may have been, was the basis on which the most free nation in history was built. This nation was tarnished by those who couldn't see beyond their own bigotry and mistreated people to the highest degree because of their color or sex.
Despite all this, we have a document that protects the most freedoms in the clearest manner. I don't think 'starting fresh' with a new one will accomplish anything but insult the memory of those who fought injustice to give us the future we enjoy, and strive to share with all.
