But Trump hasn't accomplished anything, all he really did was get angry and try to abolish Obama care
6 ups, 3y,

Wow. You clearly have not been paying any attention to Trump at all. At least not on your own.

I guess you don't consider any of these accomplishments... modernizing and rebuilding the military, appointing three SCOTUS justices, appointing hundreds of federal judges, creating the Space Force, massive tax cuts, unprecedented funding for the nation's historically black colleges and universities, getting the First Step Act (criminal reform) into law, destroying the ISIS caliphate, killing terrorists Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and Qasem Soleimani. I could go on and on.

You've probably been watching CNN, MSNBC, etc., who keep any positive news about Trump from you. That's the only way they can lie to you about what a horrible racist, war monger, sexist, xenophobic person they claim him to be.

I did a quick search to see if I could find a list of his accomplishments, to help you out. The first one I found was a NY Times fact check. After reading the first half dozen, which they admitted were all true, I decided to stop, because for each one of them, they tried to give credit to someone else.

Point being, you're being lied to by the mainstream media. Open your eyes and do so me digging on your own if you want to find all the things he's done, good and bad. Then make up your own mind about him. Don't let Rachel Maddow at MSNBC, or the bozos at CNN, or the bozos at FOX News tell you what to think about him.

Also, you clearly didn't pay attention to Obama, cuz you only seem to think that Republican presidents are good. Also, if Obama is so bad, how come he was re-elected.

Okay, so we disagree on the military. That's fine. In my view of adults having a conversation, disagreement is not only allowed, but when done calmly and maturely, it is encouraged.

I didn't say anything about food stamps, so in terms of using that as a reply to what i wrote... fail.

How you can make that third point, with absolutely no commentary on my part to indicate how I view president Obama's accomplishments, only shows that you are prone to jumping to conclusions.

What am I supposed to do every time I rattle off what I consider to be Trump's accomplishments... include my analysis of prior presidents' accomplishments? That's ridiculous, as is your post, imo.

Alas, arguments on this site since summer 2016 have leaned mostly on the low brow side, facts and logic need not be applied.
Fact is, even if they were civil, it's a basic psychological fact that the only arguments that can convince us are our own and those that confirm our bias.

My approach tends towards skipping what could be my frustration and returning it to those who would give it if that's the situation at hand.

[deleted]
2 ups, 3y,

I'm assuming racist in this context means, "One who is firmly convinced of the superiority of one race over all others no matter the circumstances."

Obama definitely wasn't, but I'm not sure race relations improved any under his administration.

Here's my list of presidents who made it policy to promote the superiority of their race over others, or criminally failed to defend minorities when it was possible to do so:

- Andrew Jackson
- James Polk
- Woodrow Wilson (the most egregious of the listed offenders)
- FDR (Imprisoned Japanese-Americans purely because their skin was evidently more dangerous than their American identity)

Here are Presidents who are often derided as racist, but context shows us that they did oppose it, failing to do so purely because there was a more pressing issue facing them.

- Washington (freed his slaves, but couldn't oppose slavery without tearing the fledgeling country apart.)
- Lincoln (valued the integrity of the Union over all else, which still doesn't annul his attempts to allow slavery to persist in defense of unity, but we can forgive him this mistake in hindsight given he was forced to choose between slavery and the most destructive war in American history. Additionally, once war was upon us he was freed from that choice and wholeheartedly supported emancipation and acceptance of slaves as equal citizens.)
- Eisenhower (slammed for failing to enforce Brown v. Board, but I put this up to ignorance more than true racist feelings.)
- Reagan (Infamous 'monkeys' quote, in context, reveals he was more ignorant about the political advancement of African democracies than truly racist sentiment. He also granted amnesty to million of illegal immigrants, and attempted to stifle the flow of drugs into largely-black inner cities in an attempt to lower crime and improve their lives.)

I'm not well-versed in the history of our less well known presidents, but that's a solid list for starters. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few on both sides of the aisle.

Obama wasn't a racist, if that's what you inferred from my post then I assure you it's not what I meant.

I also assumed my definition of racism encompassed yours, since only one who thinks one race is better than another would treat them differently when there's no reasonable context to do otherwise (and there rarely, if ever,is).

I do think FDR was discriminating against Japanese-Americans because of their racial identity. There was a Japanese-American military unit that won the U.S great honor in WWII and proved their loyalty beyond a shadow of a doubt...FDR's interpretation of Japanese-Americans as potentially being more loyal to their ancestral country than their current homeland is political-racism, or political discrimination on racial grounds. I see no difference. If we'd been at war with China or the Philippines he would have done the same to them.

Affirmative Action is wrong in the sense that we understand it, though there are some who use it because they think it merely means the same as executive action, so I'm careful to ensure what people mean by it before judging them, but you are correct there.

If he locked them up purely because they were Asian he would have also incarcerated Chinese-Americans and Filipino-Americans...I fail to see why the 'Asian' vs 'Japanese' distinction is even relevant...he decided, with no basis other than his own prejudices, that their ancestry would be more important that their identity. It may have been politically fueled, but they were still targeted purely because their ancestry made them (in his eyes) a political target.

I honestly don't understand why this is even a debate here...

Lincoln allowed three slave holding States that remained with the Union and territories of others occupied during the war to maintain the practice, and planned to allow them to keep doing so after the war ended.

Lincoln was a virulently open racist who stated equality would not nor ever should be a reality, slaves and their descendents should never be allowed to get elected and hold office, and should be properly segregated away.
He then set his sites on Native Amercans and wasn't particularly pleasant with his aims to 'solve' that issue either. Biggest mass hanging in history.

Ronald Reagan had the CIA transport so much cocaine into the US to fund his Iran-Contra scheme, it was freebased to make it more compact for storage and transport by dealers and sold at a discount to inner cities, starting the Crack Epidemic which, by design, stayed within their limits.

Read 'Grant' by Ron Chernow...the man lays down his arguments and sources better than I ever could, but Lincoln changed the course of the war by making it about the end of slavery when he issued the Emancipation Proclamation. That was followed up by action to amend legalized slavery everywhere (he died before he could push the 13th amendment through). Everyone can have a change of heart, and Lincoln made his when it counted most.

We all know the political status of the combatants in the Civil War.

Ohhh, this is about Lincoln and his border-state guarantees, isn't it? Well listen up sonny, the Emancipation Proclamation couldn't make a blanket statement at the time (key phrase) because to do so would further increase tensions with the loyalist slave states. Lincoln knew that once the war was won, and slavery banned in the deep South, that the border states would have no choice but to toe the new line.
0 ups, 3y,

The Emancipation Proc was nothing more than an unenforced thumb in the eye, as it was meant to be. AGAIN, and read this slowly,

''Lincoln allowed three slave holding States that remained with the Union and territories of others occupied during the war to maintain the practice, and planned to allow them to keep doing so after the war ended''

I referred to it, I know the deal, including the rampage on 'the Injuns' that followed the war, utilizing a now well trained Sherman and Co to do so.

I don't do links. If someone is too lazy to put a lil' elbow grease into it, how can they expect me to be arsed to do their work for them?

Nope. Flat out wrong. If he wanted to do that he would have denied the passage of the Joint Resolution that would become the 13th Amendment. The only reason he didn't sign off on it was because he was shot dead in Ford's Theatre.

Just give me a quote from Obama that discriminates against a certain group, and I'll believe you. I am actually very well educated. If you figure out I'm a child, stop saying 'You're uneducated' It's a lie, plain and simple. I was not accusing anyone of being racist. You are accusing Obama of being racist with no proof

It is not a quote that discriminates against a minority, therefore, it is not racist

How is Obama an advocate for slavery or segregation
0 ups, 3y
Exactly. Woodrow Wilson was a segregationist, and George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, etc, were all advocates for slavery

Making him not the most racist president the US has ever had

once again, your propaganda fail..

Imagine if Trump voted on segregation and then recanted, you would still be calling for his head.
