That’s funny coming from a Republican who only sees #blexit as a propaganda tool. I’m going to tell you what I’ve told others here, my father was a vet. I also had friends who went to Vietnam and WWII (relatives of an ex). I’ve been a supporter of homeless vets and have argued in defense of the homeless with many of your buddies here who think all homeless are either illegals, drug addicts or just shitty people. So think what you want about me but I’ll always defend our military. I might not agree with the choices made by higher ups but our service people have my full support.

Really? First I've heard. But with the media focused on demanding people wear a face diaper, Ghislaine Maxwell and possible suicide/murder in a NY jail, and losing their collective minds over the latest tweet from Trump they haven't had the airtime to talk about what tore this country apart in the past month.
C'est la vie

Wait, are you referring to Flynn, who plead guilty twice to lying to the FBI about meeting with Russian Ambassador Kislyak regarding changing our policies against Russia before Trump took office? Even Trump said he lied: “I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the vice president and the F.B.I.“
0 ups, 4y
Does that change that they violated his rights? No it doesn’t. Oh but if police violated search and seizure rights you would sing a different tune.
0 ups, 4y
You mean the same Flynn trial where the FBI changed earlier testimony in order to entrap Flynn with a perjury charge?

Did Don Lemon neglect to mention that?
1 up, 4y
Really? There's nothing more offensive to you than that, Blue Bunny?

So what happened to him? Was he court-martialed? Was he arrested? Did he lose his commission? No, he was reassigned. Ouch.

You do know he was scheduled to be rotated out of WH duty this summer anyway, right? So it's the cops escorting him that raises this to the level of being "nothing more offensive than"?

What about the tens of thousands, if not more, people who are losing their livelihoods because of the Blue Bunnies in govt forcing them to shut down their businesses, without any actual science to prove it's necessary? (remember what your demented leader Biden said... follow the science.)

What about the millions of US school children who are falling so far behind academically, and socially, that they may never be able to catch up?

What about all the seniors in New York who died because Cuomo signed the order that put Covid-19 positive patients in their care homes or facilities? That isn't more offensive to you?

Those are just three incredibly easy examples of things that any rational person would find more offensive than Vindman being escorted from the White House for supposedly telling the truth.

Looks like you're a little too easily triggered, Blue Bunny.

Many of the protesters are descended from slaves and many ex-slaves are still alive today. The statues are a symbol of America’s past injustices.

Slavery and racism didn’t end with the civil war. The Emancipation Proclamation allowed for slavery to slowly phase out because the southern economy depended on it so much. Some say Lincoln didn’t free any slaves because he couldn’t control the south.

So while slavery trickled out slowly, people became servants and indentured servants and continued to be treated like second class citizens while fighting for their equal rights until today - and they still are.
6 ups, 4y,

Officially sanctioned slavery did end with the emancipation
0 ups, 4y,

Only for the Confederate states and their 3 mil slaves. He left the border states and their 850k slaves alone as well as three southern states who weren’t part of the rebellion. The. NY Herald said: “While the proclamation leaves slavery untouched where his decree can be enforced, he emancipates slaves where his decree cannot be enforced.”

It was a strategic war move done as punish for the south not surrendering. It also yielded the north 200k former slaves as soldiers.
2 ups, 4y,

Ok they were all freed when all the states ratified the 13th amendment on 12/6/1865. No one is alive born before that time. Therefore there are no slaves.

Maybe not those who originally came on the slave ships but many of their children still are and children born to slaves are by law also slaves so...

Anyway, there are around 60,000 slaves in the US today. Not that you’d care though.
1 up, 4y
Yeah, I'm going to call bullshit on that. You're gonna need way more documentation to follow that up. The closest thing you may be referring to are those whose offspring were born and kept in Prison. Which.. maybe? I somehow doubt that, tho.
1 up, 4y,
1 reply
Wrong again oh false fact propogator. All slaves were emancipated in 1860 so their progeny born after 1860 can not be slaves. You are full of distortions and lies.
1 up, 4y,
1 reply
I thought we went over this. The emancipation proclamation was only directed at the southern states refusing to play ball. Everyone else was still allowed to own slaves until the 13th amendment was passed 5 years later. And even then Andrew Johnson was very lenient on the south and allowed them to decide for themselves how blacks should be treated.

Ex-male black slaves needed another amendment two years later to even be allowed to vote. So we’re talking 7 years after the Emancipation Proclamation, former slaves were still needing laws to be passed to protect them. Even into the 1980’s, major court cases were fought to give them equal protection under the law. Why? Because white supremacists are stubborn cro-magnon types resistant to change.
0 ups, 4y
You are correct the Emancipation did not free all slaves, as I corrected on a separate response, the 13th amendment to the constitution did. It was ratified 12/6/1865 shortly after the end of the civil war and Lincoln’s Asassination and freed all slaves and their progeny. Period, no more slaves after that! None! Nada! End of Argument.

The struggle for equality, an entirely separate phase of history began after the 13th amendment.

You said there are 60,000 current slaves, what slaves are those? I suspect a figment of your imagination.
1 up, 4y
Not that BLM, or ANTIFA, or the DNC (or the RNC for that matter) cares... especially those slaves that are white, right?

“children born to slaves are by law also slaves so . . . there are around 60,000 slaves in the US today“

Gee, I guess that means women aren’t allowed to vote since that was once a law too. It also must mean:
Same sex unions aren’t recognized as married
It’s illegal to get an abortion
Blacks aren’t allowed to ride in the front of a bus
The national speed limit is 55mph
Etc . . .

The last slave brought over from Africa died in the 1970’s. He didn’t lose his past because the laws changed. And his children born into slavery didn’t lose their past either. And their children, born to slave parents who weren’t allowed to attend schools, and their children who weren’t allowed to live in the same neighborhood or drink from the same water fountains... swim in the same public pools.

The last slave shipped from Africa died in 1940. She was only two years old when she arrived in Mobile Alabama in 1860. The civil war ended in 1865 when she was 7. So, are you suggesting she had children born into slavery when she was 7 years old?

How do you know she was? I'll put more faith in the person that was there, especially since affirmative action is a thing and becoming more so.

If you lost a good job opportunity to someone less qualified (which is a stretch) then you'd be upset too. Of course whites DON'T benefit from the racist policy of affirmative action, which judges people merely by skin color. Your last sentence is incoherently stupid.
