Maybe, but the difference is that Canadians know that they're caricatures while Americans think that they are true.

uh....no?

And obviously you have no stereotypes of us. Nope, of course not, silly idea.

I'm an American.

And you're right, I did make a sweeping judgement there. Not all Americans think those stereotypes are fact. Many do, though. It's a weird byproduct of an increasing population that a small percentage of morons can be millions of people in real numbers, and a vocal minority can represent a group badly if the majority remains silent.

um every one of 'those' Canadian Stereotypes was taught to me by Canadians, jokes, or Canadians expressly telling Jokes. not 'Americans'
2 ups, 5y

2 ups, 5y

I mean, we don't live in some sort of wintery hellscape, but everything else is at least somewhat true.

You should see the way people in other countries depict Americans.

!%$# you racist Americans! at least kinder surprise eggs aren't illegal here in Canada!
1 up, 5y,

you do know WHY the 'real' KinderSurprises are illegal right?...

it's a letter of the law interpretation on the rules about the amount of "Not food" that Food Manufacturers are allowed in Food... (Its the same law that keeps sawdust out of our bread and rat hair out of our Peanut Butter)

Correction: Its the same law that is "supposed to" keep sawdust.....

that doesn't make sense because the toy inside is protected by a plastic container, but I don't know if they have that plastic thing in the US
0 ups, 5y,
1 reply
That 'Plastic Container' is still in the middle of the "food"... again, it comes down to a 'letter of the law' interpretation

he US Version has two 'halves'... Food in one side, Toy on the other with a film in between

Canadians do casually swear a lot...this is not just a stereotype...I've encountered it in every Canadian-American business relationship I've been a part of, and there have been dozens and dozens over the years. I heard them say "piss", "f**k", and "shit" quite a bit. It's really quite shocking when you are on a business telephone call and someone drops an F-bomb. I swear to God, this happened on nearly every call with Canadians and for sure when in-person with them. I am not saying this is in any way a poor reflection on them. It's totally innocuous and I find it to lighten up tense conversations. Anyhow, not all stereotypes are factual, but many are based on factual, yet anecdotal, evidence. I've also always found Canadians to be super apologetic, which I see was represented in this meme. Again, this is over many years and many business relationships. I truly believe that is something Canadians have a proclivity for, too.
