My family were indentured servants which were slaves before they called it slavery. So why don't many white people riot and demand stuff .... because we moved on and forgave. They want us to erase the past but always remember their problems.

While indentured servants were treated like shit, they came with built-in legal rights. The contracts had specific end dates. The holder of the contract was required to provide specific things like a certain standard of living for food and shelter. And at the end of the contract, there were specific payouts. Their contract may have included at least 25 acres of land, a year's worth of corn, arms, a cow and new clothes.

Slaves got none of that. And their children were born into it too.

It's kinda funny how Wiki says "Native Americans learned slavery from white settlers."

But failed to mention then that "White settlers learned slavery from African Immigrants."

Again, the failure of US education system to teach "how" blacks became slaves. It is over a supreme court case Casor vs Johnson, an Angola immigrant who owned a black slave. This case set the precedence of legalizing slavery in America. Majority of black slaves were owned by black owners early on. Being "black" doesn't automatically make you a slave. It wasn't until later many blacks sold themselves into slavery to prevent deportation and repat to their home country when indenture servitude was deemed illegal.

From this opened the massive black slave trade where African blacks were sold to European whites by other African blacks for guns and medicines, which then were sold to America for cash crop.

Oh, f**king don't. Europeans did not "learn" slavery from Africans. Do you know what the Viking word for slave was?

Thrall. That was from the 11th Century.

Go read some history, damn it.

So you like history? That is so cool! Here is some:

Romans had slaves and that's over 2,000 years ago and the Greeks before them and the earlier Bronze age civilizations before them and the Egyptians before them and that goes back 5,000 years. Can we just agree that is was an institution that grew up along with the development of civilization, and as we advanced we learned that we are better without it.

Or is your need to be righteous so strong you need someone to blame. If so, you can always take umbrage at the currently existing slavery problem that exists in Africa among Muslim slave traders.

But maybe that doesn't fit the narrative you like

I do like history. And thank you for adding to my point that Europeans didn't "learn" slavery from African traders. It was already there.

I don't think the genesis of slavery can be determined. Who knows, it could have come from Africa back during the original migrations from that continent. It probably came later though, because keeping slaves enslaved takes resources I don't think hunter-gatherers would have had. Whoever invented it, it became an institution for most of human history.
1 up, 4y
Yes, exactly. Slavery was widely practiced throughout history. It's not like western Europeans were naive and innocent waifs who were taken advantage of by some African traders who "introduced" them to the concept of slavery in the 1700's.

I am of the Loyal Shawnee, one of the Tribes who were indentured by the Cherokee. It took over two hundred years until the year 2000, for my for my band to be free of the Cherokee Yoke. They were and still are a horrible people.

The Portuguese brutalized their African slaves in Brazil but due to the tough terrain and climate few Portuguese woman came to the New World. The men bread with their female slaves and created the mixed race we see today in Brazil. Now the only ones they can blame are their own ancestors.

Listen, f**kwhit, what's the point of bringing up that one group of people treated another group of people in the past? Yes, it is likely that at some point every culture has had slavery. We know.

How is that relevant to now?

Wow you are a total “woke” brainwashed douchebag. You typed this,

“Listen, f**kwhit, what's the point of bringing up that one group of people treated another group of people in the past?

Bwahahaha think on what that says stupid. You mean like bringing up what white people did in the past? I actually agree with you It’s pointless. So why does George Washington and Thomas Jefferson have to come down? Cause you don’t know what your even talking about you dumb mother effer.

Oh, I get it. YOu're butt-hurt about the founders being targeted for being slave owners.

Yeah, dude, they were cool. They had a good idea but lacked the political will to really make it happen. They knew slavery was bad, but they couldn't bring themselves to quit it.

That's bad.

And if the Cheroke have a bunch of statues about how cool and noble they are, then they need to come down too.
2 ups, 4y
No statues need to come down. Get over your weakness that a statue threatens you crybaby. You don’t care where you came from or how you got here, good for you. You don’t get to redefine history for your 21st century motives

You are owned by your government right now. You don't think so? Even if you own property and house, you have to pay property tax. Otherwise they seize your property and you become a homeless.

I agree, this is a free market and we have a lot of options (more than any other country) to pave our own path and destiny.

I just don't agree with residential property tax, you shouldn't be taxed to live on your own property. I suppose it came about b/c people purchase property (including residential) as investment, so they needed to tax it to control it. However, there should be laws to regulate this that the land you are living on should not be taxed. It is wrong to tax people for living. Tax should come from gains such as income, business deals, investments.

Well l’m down with that, Ca property taxes are killers. However the left has a plan they want to get rid of private property. Look around they are building almost no single family dwellings anymore. Stack and pack, it’s easier to control the masses. Once they have control tear gas, rubber bullets, anything will be ok to control the masses.

The attack on private property is a keystone of the communist agenda and they have to build stack and packs for the sheep to live in and where they can be easily controlled.

Taxes are the dues you pay to live in civilization.

And if you can't afford to pay your property taxes, why are you buying a house?

Shouldn't you be financially prudent enough to measure the costs you have each month against your income, and then plan accordingly?

Isn't that the conservative talking point? About planning for this sort of thing?

Yes, but not residential property tax. Look it up. This is a scam. We reserve the right to live, right? You can't tax on residential property b/c it puts people in slavery.

Taxes should come from "gains" or things you earn like income, business, etc... Now some suggest a balance, since property is also an investment, then you can be taxed on the sale of a residential property gain.

However, taxing you just for "living" in your own property, essentially you don't "own" the property anymore, you are in a way renting it by paying property tax. That's slavery.
1 up, 4y
Good point dude, I never looked at it that way but I think you are right. Unfortunately it will go the way of the sovereign citizen and I don’t have to pay taxes arguments. Just ask Wesley Snipes

How do you think the city you live in pays for things?

Like the workers who build the roads and the materials used to maintain those roads?

Money. They need money to pay for those cops. Those firefighters. And the guys who repair the potholes.

Now, you're probably about to say "but what about sales tax?"

2/3rds of that goes to the state. the rest is divided out to the cities.

And how would a city that has a high population but low retail occupation? Like a suburb that has some stores, maybe a grocery store or two but not a lot of shopping.

How does that city pay the bills?

Have you guess it's property taxes yet? Because it's property taxes.

Property taxes pay for schools. For cops. For just about everything a city does.

So, no, property taxes are not slavery. Slavery would be where you are worked to death, and someone else collects the money from your labor, and then only spends it on themselves.

Property taxes are what you pay to be able to live in a specific city.

Grow up.
