I would dare say that even most Texans didn't know what it was and it's a Texas day of remembrance.

I bet a lot of people claim they knew what it was before Trump’s scheduled rally put it in the news, yet they really never heard of it before.

the irony is that the rally, despite the high ticket sales, had a smaller crowd than expected.

https://www.jpost.com/american-politics/trumps-tulsa-rally-crowd-underwhelms-despite-early-expectations-632205

his campaign tried to blame protestors despite the lack of protests happening on that day.

apparently, the ones responsible for making false attendances were young people from Tik Tok and kpop stans.

It's funnier watching people, on both sides, pretend that they knew about it in casual conversation before it became a news scandal.

It's the wrong day. Freedom was given September 22, 1862 by Lincoln with the Emancipation Proclamation. Junteenth was some general in Texas finally getting the word out almost 3 years late. The government was slow then just like now. Should be called bureaucracy day. It's actually embarrassing. Who would celebrate a birthday 3 years later.
4 ups, 4y,

Well, the proclamation is like the conception; when they were actually told they were free is the "birthday".

Bullshit. Facts are facts. Quit trying to mold history to fit your misconceptions.
2 ups, 4y
It still marks the day all slaves became free, even though it was three years after Emancipation Proclamation.

Are you stupid? If you are lynched for walking away from your slave master because the Prez says you're free, you are NOT free. A war was waged in between the two dates.

No. No I am not. That's your job, one you are exceedingly qualified for.

Even before the two dates, genius.

They are still slaves to their Democrat Masters , and everytime one tries to leave your Democrat plantation, you lynch him or her by calling them a "Uncle Tom" or race traitor and destroy their livelihood.

Sorry fool. Everyone knows about the southern strategy, especially the blacks. Everyone knows the parties switched due to racism and we all know which party wants to limit their votes. That is why the majority of blacks today vote for Dems. Yes, Dems in the past were racists. No shit. During the southern strategy they became Repubs. They kept their racism and continue to this day.

You're not fooling anyone.

You don't get to tell African Americans when they get to celebrate the end of slavery.
0 ups, 4y
They had a chance to celebrate in November 2016 and they have another chance to celebrate this November if they ignore the BLM bullshit and help reelect Trump for 4 more years.

Wait...did you just link the "John Martin" piece?

YOU DID!

Aw, so cute.

You REALLY need to stop hanging out in the racists- I mean conservative- Facebook groups.

They don't link real history there.

So, this bullshit racists nonsense you're posting claims that "From 1641 to 1652, over 500,000 Irish were killed by the English and another 300,000 were sold as slaves. Ireland’s population fell from about 1,500,000 to 600,000 in one single decade."

That's a lot! Like more than 50%!

REAL history says that Ireland lost about 20% of it's population due to the Cromwellian Conquest. Now, the maps and sketchy English documentation from that time claim that the conquest killed 40% of the Irish.

About 600,000.

However, modern research suggests that this was propaganda and the actual death toll was 300,000. Or 20%. Still a significant number. But well short of "Martin"s claim of 800,000.

Also, there's no evidence that Cromwell gave any kind of order to sell off a bunch of people in 1652.

Which, interestingly, the Irish population had exploded to 2 million at that point.

Although, I don't know how all they faked all those birth records in the church and all those gravesites if Cromwell was shipping all the Irish women to the West Indies.

It's all nonsense.

It's this kind of crap that racists invent and spread to demean and dimish the suffering of African Americans in slavery.

Were the Irish brought over as indentured servants? Yes.
Did suck? Yep. They were worked hard. For 4 to 7 years.
Were their children born into servitude? Nope.
Was it passed down generationally? Nope.
Were they treated better than the African slaves? Yes.

Yeah, that "irish slavery" piece has been floating around since 2008.

It's published in exactly the same way that Alex Jones is published. It's on a website. And it's got some words.

That's it.

There's no citing research, documents, or any sort of data.

It's just a big load of crap.

And this "if you find published information, I'll consider it" We both know that you won't.

You'll do the same thing you always do- reject any information counter to what you already believe.

BUT this is for everyone who reads this thread:
https://www.globalresearch.ca/englands-irish-slaves-meme-the-numbers/5529851

From the same website, Timber.

Notice how this author cites where their information comes from? He gives titles of books, authors names, AND page numbers.

YOUR link is bullshit. It's a lie designed by a racist to be shared by racists so they can do exactly what you did "Uh, well, actually, white people were victims too. See? So terrible!"
1 up, 4y
Imma gonna let you finish, but I'm just gonna say the parts at the end,

Whistlelock: And that, Timber, is why you're wrong. Again.

Timber1972: SHUT UP, LEFTIST! YOU'RE A LIAR PERSON!! LALALALALAL.

Yes, the war started earlier than the Emancipation Proclamation. Virtually none of the slaves immediately became free as your friend in dipshit land emplies above. OTHERWISE WE WOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO FIGHT A WAR!
0 ups, 4y
WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING!!!!!!
And, yes , the War would still have been fought, with or without the emancipation.
There were other issues besides the slaves.
