what specific slang, jargon or rhetoric is responsible for inciting violence?
was it the word that was the matchpoint?
or was it the political, cultural and socioeconomic atmosphere that lent itself vulnerable to being blown up by fiery words? passionate rhetoric?
when we target the words and ignore the underlying pressure cooker that creates the environment that lends itself vulnerable to inciting language.
we become the thought police.
when you start to restrict one of the most powerful rights we have under the guise of "protecting the marginalized and vulnerable"
you open the door for massive abuse by those in power, and can affect not only social interactions but can infect vital institutions we all rely on,and already HAVE affected those institutions.
the best antiseptic is to drag those f**ked up,fringe f**kwits into the light.
I finally got purgey to admit..openly..that he is a neo-Nazi.
I could have never done that if his speech had been hampered.
because if you restrict speech,
you aren't restricting Nazis from thinking like a fascist.
you aren't stopping a racist from thinking like a racist.
you aren't swinging the thoughts of a homophobe,or an islamaphobe.
all you have done is pushed that f**ked up thinking into the underground.where they gather like roaches...
and spread like a virus.
just look at how the neo-nazis in America have had to create their own dog-whistle language to communicate!
and they have f**king grown in size!
all because some well intentioned, but short sighted, moralizing lib decided that "speech can be hateful",and should be made illegal.
words are an amorphous and fluid means to express complex feelings, thoughts and visions and are entirely inadequate at times.
to attempt to legislate words is an exercise in futility, and hands far too much power to the state to impose restrictive guidelines, based on an incredibly flimsy dialectic, and can easily be exploited for nefarious means.
naw man...
I want that shit up front and out in the open.
so I can ridicule them relentlessly.
the "call-out culture" needs to be called out.
because good intentions do not always produce good results.
and can,and usually are, exploited by the powerful eventually.
and we all are the lesser for it.
