I used quotes because I don't think that these values are only conservative. I know many centrist that have the same values and even some left-leaning liberals.
I, for instance, consider myself more of a right-leaning centrist than a true conservative. I am a strong supporter of equal rights for everybody. I believe we need some government-sponsored social programs to help the poor and disabled, but I don't want the government to control every aspect of my life. I do think we need taxes, but I also want accountability. I also think that while we need a free market we do need controls on businesses. I have no problem whatsoever with homosexuality, gay marriage, or inter-racial marriage. People should be able to love whomever they want. I accept abortion to a point. I am in favor of legal immigration but strongly oppose illegal aliens and open borders. I strongly support legalized marijuana and the decriminalization of most drug use crimes. I am strongly opposed to any war unless it is in response to an invasion of my country.
On the other hand, I am a strong advocate of gun rights and the 2nd amendment. I am against the intersectionality and victimhood mentality of the left. I don't accept the idea of privilege or toxic masculinity, these are just made up terms to suppress people. I believe people need to be accountable and responsible for their choices. I think affirmative action is racist. In fact, I think anything that is based purely on the immutable characteristics of a person is racist. I don't believe in protected classes of people, because all people should be treated the same. I question transgenderism as anything other than a mental disorder. I am a big free speech advocate and while people can and do say hateful things, I don't believe any speech should be censored.
