trust me, our conservative party is more progressive than America's green party.

Just out of curiosity, but how is your Conservative party to the left of even our Greens? Not criticizing, was just curious.

it's called over-exaggerating. there is some truth to it though.

That's because they seem to hate America but don't want to give up America's conveniences

Kind of like how conservatives seem to hate illegal immigrants, yet drag their feet on immigration reform because illegals are nice, cheap labor.
reply

No, Americans hate illegal immigration and we are sick and tired of both parties using our national security for their own gain.
reply
5 ups, 1 reply
But you do acknowledge that both parties are guilty of it.
reply

Both parties are raging hypocrites. But in most instances the stifling of progress is a good thing. Moving forward is bad, if it's off a cliff.
Meanwhile there is no point in changing our immigration policies while we refuse to enforce the ones we have. Laws are meaningless without enforcement.

I would have to strongly disagree. Very strongly.

The system being slow protects it from the whims of the moment. A movement must maintain momentum to effect change. Change CAN be good, but it isn't always. And the government should interfere with people and businesses as little as possible. But the current trend is to want government to micromanage our lives, yet believing we can still be free as they do so. The slowness of this process will, hopefully, give people time to come to their senses (although it's been going on long enough that I doubt it).

When you say it that way, I would agree with you. Upvote

I would differentiate between change and progress, though. All progress is change, but not all change is progress. Progress implies (to me at least) positive change, not just change in general.
reply
3 ups, 1 reply
The literal meaning of progress is to move forward. Forward is not necessarily positive, depending on what direction you are facing.
reply
5 ups
That's true. I see what you mean now. For example, Nazism progressed under Hitler, but that progress was not ultimately good.

So if conservatives were so dependent on illegal cheap labor, it would be shooting themselves in the foot to want to end it. Looks to me like the left is more dependent on their vote.
reply
2 ups, 3 replies
I agree, which is why I doubt conservatives ARE eager to end it.

I'm sure that many (or possibly most) Democrats do desire the votes of illegals. I wouldn't doubt it.

I think it's important to make a distinction between supposedly conservative politicians and conservative voters who elect them based upon campaign promises that are repeatedly broken.

I've been to Washington DC on vacation, and I didn't personally see it, but I still suspect there is a Republican entrance to the Capitol building where you must leave your spine and your balls before you are permitted inside.

I definitely agree with that.

So you don't see a majority of conservatives pushing for and , voting for that agenda? I know you live on this planet, so I know you know better. I will not deny there are some that vote against the measures and they are the main ones responsible for nothing getting done, but it is certainly the minority.
reply
4 ups, 1 reply
I'm sure there are conservatives who vote for stricter immigration policies, but (if I'm not mistaken) some of the ones who campaigned on stronger, tougher immigration policies end up doing the opposite once they get into office, for whatever reason.
reply
2 ups, 1 reply
As I said above. However that is the minority, just enough to side with the left to block everything.

You may very well be right, but I admit I don't follow voting records closely enough to know for sure.

George W Bush wanted to grant amnesty to how many milions?
And both openly stating it would land instant new thankful Republicans.

The image vs reality is beyond glaring, and stereotypes parties and immigrants both. The assumption that immigrants are so stupid that they are oblivious to the callous taking for granted exhibited by Republicans is insulting and steers them away from the party.

In the meantime, being given to business interests, the fact that citizens can't be paid low wages and otherwise exploited like illegals causes the party to also take this anti citizenship stance.

Anti (Mexican)immigration goes back a century or so, vacillating with swings in the economy. Witness how it was approached in the 20s, and how it swung when the Great Depression set in, then after.

Now, of course, it's become this rallying cry for Trump & his constituency, crawling out of the Great Recession.

I'm sorry if preference to a temperate climate over a tropical one offends you.

Secondly, if anything, I'd move to Britain. Partially because I have duel-citizenship with there and America, and partially because I want to make trainspotting videos.

Basically waiting around railroad lines and looking for trains. It's much fun in England with the sprawling services and the high speed rail.
