To be honest, it doesn't make much difference for the practical purposes of debate. I don't think it's a good idea to give up self-defense rights to an evil government OR an incompetent one.

I only know bits and pieces about the Florida guy. He had been in trouble with the law a lot of times. How was he not on a list? And what is this about deputies not going in during the shooting? It's like someone knew this guy was a potential threat and they just let it happen...?

And what has been the topic of debate since.
The banning of guns.

And the guy who shot up the Church in Texas, he was on a list but somehow managed to slip through. Or something like that, right?

The man from Texas was briefly in the military and was dishonorably discharged for beating his child into a concussion. The Army was supposed to release the paperwork to the FBI but never did and so was able to buy guns with little problem. If the Army did their job, he would have been put a watch list and not have been able to buy guns legally.

Yes, Air Force. The United States military, basically effed up. Just like the latest shooting in Florida. The FBI effed up. And I think it was purposely.

Law enforcement has an anti-gun agenda? Police departments tend to attract macho types and many preferentially hire veterans, so if anything I suspect they would be disproportionately conservative.

If the government wanted to instill tyranny and hegemony among the people they would have done so already. It's like you are completely ignorant of the strength of our military.

That sort of tyranny is far messier. Slowly pacifying the population is much easier and has the added benefit of getting you lots of good little citizens.

(Just to clarify, I am not necessarily saying that this IS the case. I am merely saying that if the government wanted to enslave people, a subtle and gradual approach would be their best bet)

The Right always talks about Freedom, Liberty, blah blah. If the Russian gov or interviewed the shooter/bomber and they were not doing anything illegal, the FBI would have to let them go. You cant arrest someone without probable cause no matter how much someone warned the FBI. If that did happen the NRA would say stop infringing on our God given rights! You can't eat your cake and have it too. More extensive background checks should be done and people not drop the ball. He who is perfect, throw the first stone.
2 ups, 7y
The background checks in place are pretty extensive. On every level, what we have been witnessing is a people problem. People with mental problems allowed to commit crimes because of: People failing to report to the NCIC. People at the FBI and other law enforcement agencies failing to conduct thorough investigations that would lead to prosecutions. People failing to uphold their civic duty to protect. People arguing instead of correcting said failures. Etc., Etc. There is no sense in having cake if you can't eat it too... So please don't lash out at those making a stand for freedom, liberty and the right to defend those and our lives, because if it's lost to us, it's lost to you too. A few bad apples should NOT ruin the whole batch, they should be removed so that the batch is preserved.

Btw, when Jesus said that last quote, she (the lady who sinned) was repentant and believed Jesus is God.

Exactly, a sin is a mistake.

Yep.

WRONG!!! The right only talks about the 2nd Amendment but are oblivious to the rest, such as the 4th Amendment which applies here. Remember, they scream to get rid of the 1st, 14th, & 15th Amendments, etc...

Plus, as the meme indicates, these people WERE investigated. Can't put away someone for life because of Facebook posts. 2/3 of this site would be locked up just because of their threats to kill 'libtards' in the coming Trumpocalypse.
