The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun. And the good guys don't all wear police uniforms.

I've had to draw my gun twice to prevent a crime, that's more often then a lot of cops do.

TO THE SECOND AMENDMENT DEUS VULT! | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Hillary can say a great many things except TAKE RESPONSIBILITY! I voted for President Trump and I would do so again. It wasn't because of misogyny or Russian interference. It was because Hillary was a LOUSY candidate! So manifold is her hypocrisy so deficient are her merits. She claims to want to make America safe by making more gun control, yet she does not want increased boarder security, she does not want to increase the military size, and she is for allowing in more refugees. Seems like all she wants to do is set up an invasion for America! And I know this old residential democrat, a childhood friend of my dad, who voted republican because Hillary said she supports abortion right up till birth! As bad as President Trump might be he is still a far cry better than the anti-American he was running against. If Hillary wasn't directly responsible for the American deaths in Benghazi, she is still responsible for LYING! She LIED to the father of Tyrone Woods and the other families by saying his son died because of an anti-muslim video!? Why is she worried about protecting those jihads by making it out as if they were victims provoked by a video?!?! It was a planned out coordinated attack on American lives by jihads! Corrupt politicians like Hillary fear the Second Amendment because it is the only thing that stands in the way of them taking away freedom!

I think that turned a lot of people against her. To look right in the eyes of the families that lost their sons in Benghazi and lie to them.
reply

You are probably right. And the thing is her lie was totally unnecessary. I mean why did she feel the need to do it? Why lie to their families and to the American people? It was a planned attack by jihads on Americans. Why would she want to victimize our enemies by making it look as if they was provoked by a video? It doesn't make sense.

Hillary was an extension of Barack Obama. Same policies, same rhetoric. And many people felt as if they were duped by Obama and they felt as if they were failed by him. Trump would not have won if it weren't for the black vote. Black people who voted for Obama; many of them voted for Trump, because they felt betrayed by the leftist rhetoric.

I voted for Trump, not because I agreed with many of his policies at the time, but because I WOULD NOT vote for Hillary Clinton for MANY reasons.

Yup, more guns now then ever and the crime rate has fallen everywhere those guns are. EXCEPT in the Democrat controlled cities where they are banned.

So far as I know, no U.S. cities have outright banned guns in any way.

Morton Grove Illinois did. It has since been repealed.

Thanks, in part, to District of Columbia vs Heller and later McDonald vs Chicago. Morton Grove dropped the ban in 2008. So far, SCOTUS has ruled that only two classes of citizens are not covered under the 2nd Amendment: Felons and Feeble minded (or mentally challenged for the PC version)

Considering that most mass killings occur due to folks with mental illness, a city could, in good conscience, write a law requiring anyone wanting to own a gun to pass a mental stability test. While it is a right, SCOTUS has laid down the parameters for it. The problem that some may have will be what the test consists of and how it's devised and written. It would take a joint effort of the American Psychiatry Association, Local Governments in that area, and, of course, the National Rifle Association. A watchdog organization would also be needed to oversee such a program, as abuse is too easy too occur. Look at the Gary, Indiana CCW laws: while you could qualify for a CCW permit, the local law enforcement agency would not issue them. It was like that for many years, and it took the above SCOTUS cases to correct that totalitarian state. I think my daughter has finally gotten it through her head that Concealed Carry means carrying the weapon in concealment. Too often, it was on her side, which isn't a bad thing if she has a coat covering it. But summer weather here doesn't allow that.

Still, it's a fine line concerning the violation of citizen rights in this country.

Seriously, if they can't have a gun why should they have a computer or a smart phone?

If the pen is mightier than the sword, then the computer is mightier than the semi-auto!

There's a popular saying that the gun-control fans have that goes something like "the founding fathers didn't have the type of weapons in mind that we have now, they just had muskets back then"...well, if that's true, then isn't the same of the First Amendment? There were now computers, TVs, radios, smartphones, movies, etc, in 1776...just the printing press and the town crier.

I wouldn't compare today's communication systems quite like that, but I believe you have a point. But then, many people would have nothing to base judgement on. Still, most people are too lazy to think at all. One recent meme here, not mine, touted that 68% of the murders in the US are caused by Democrats. Op did not cite a source, and several people called BS on the post, but offered no proof. Exactly what the poster wanted because it shows the mob-think. Being an older person than most here (there's some that are older than I) I studied journalism in high school before the fairness doctrine was repealed. Many don't understand the significance of that, but it is important with today's fake news and alternative facts. I found OPs source. A gun rights site. I read the article that listed the "facts". It was a perfect example of double talk and lying by omission. The author based his "logic" on the fact that since the majority of gun murders were done by blacks, and that 93% of the blacks that voted in 2008 voted for Obama, that the number of democrats that committed gun related murders were twice as high as those committed by Republicans.

The OP on that meme was pleased that I did the work. I didn't accept the numbers blindly, like many would, nor did I attack the numbers without checking on them first. Nor did I accept the author's contention of the number of Democrats that were murderers. Turns out it didn't matter what race committed what murders, using the author's logic, the number of murders committed by non-voters was much higher. The author claimed that 5344 murders by blacks out of 5746 were committed by democrats. Problem, only 13% of all registered black voters even voted. Using the author's logic, that would mean that the number he assigned to Democrats should have been 13% of black murders being assigned to registered voters that actually vote. Using that bit that the author failed to use, you DON'T want to know how many murders White Republicans did. It wasn't much higher, but it pointed out that, while non-voters had the highest number of murders, Republicans murdered more often than Democrats.

So you have to read all news very critically and look for the outlandish to find the reality. Of course, when you point out facts to many, they do get upset. They are too lazy to research it themselves.

That's pretty much the way it is in California. You can qualify for a CCW but the Chief of Police does not have to issue it. My parents both had CCW's for over a decade, then the town they lived in got a new anti-gun Police Chief and he refused to renew them. My parents moved to Nevada. As for the mental stability test, Hell that's easy. You only have to ask one question. "Did you vote for Hillary Clinton?"

The test would be a little harder than that, I would assume. Failure on the part of the anti-gun sheriff still should have some repercussions. While it's doubtful that the ACLU would bring any action against him, the NRA or other gun rights organization can help you fight it. If the Sheriff refuses to follow through, don't be afraid to file a civil suit. Not just for millions, but billions. Until a government entity begins to understand that constitutional rights do not come cheaply, agencies will continually restrict your rights. And this is coming from someone on the left.

Duh. It's unconstitutional, thus, it didn't last...
reply

It did last for too long, though. Several cases were thrown out of court as being unwarranted. It wasn't until SCOTUS judged first on DC -vs- Heller, and later McDonald -vs- Chicago, that it was finally repealed. Check my previous comment.

Good. The city of Chicago has basically ignored the decision of SCOTUS in the McDonald -vs- Chicago decision, which basically stripped the 1982 law of it's power. The requirement to have all guns registered, and yet, at the same time, denying all new registrations, is a violation of the constitution that allows not only for the defense of the country, but self defense: protecting a citizen. Chicago has basically ignored the ruling, and it would only take a the arrest of a citizen that understood his rights to file a civil suit in the billions for that. after all, can you put a monetary value on the cost of your constitutional rights?

I think the gov't did the same thing with marijuana in the early 20th century. You could only buy it if you had a special tax stamp, but to obtain the tax stamp you had to bring the marijuana with you. It was a catch-22, but the courts upheld it as constitutional :/

Remove the cities that have strict gun laws like Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, D.C. and the U.S. has one of the lowest rates of gun murders.
reply
2 ups, 1 reply
I think that's an oversimplification. Large cities in general have more crime. It's not just the ones run by Democrats.
reply
4 ups, 1 reply
The reality is, it's the cities that have a large black population. But to point that out that means you'll be called a racist. You can overcome facts and evidence by calling someone a racist, or homophobe, or bigot, or misogynist as long as that person stating such facts is white. If he is black, you have to overcome it by calling him an Uncle Tom or saying he's not black enough.

If you're saying that black people are more prone to violence, then I don't believe that's true. Skin color doesn't determine how violent someone is.

No, it doesn't it's not their skin color that makes them more violent. It's their culture.
