It actually shouldn't be played anytime imho!

Had I been involved iny brother's funeral plans, this song would have been included. Instead, I had to post it on Facebook. Only one offended was my other brother: but he's an old pickle puss.

For me, as a German, it is very unlikely that I'm going to play this song (or hear it) at any funeral in Germany.

For the British it is very common to play it ... other cultures other funeral songs ^^

I'm a Yank, but British humor has found a niche on this side of the pond. Remember, it was an absurdity that a group of rag tag colonists take on the most powerful empire of all time and beat it.

We hàve a large population of German descent where I live, so I can understand. They are very conservative, so much so that they still ride horse and buggies. For them, funerals ate very solemn, and if they pay a call on a funeral of one of us "English", it is a great honor.

Among our family, our funerals should reflect our lives. My bother was a DJ that not only enjoyed Monty Python, but all humor. He would have loved it, but two other songs were played at his funeral: Scotland the Brave and Amazing Grace. Both reflected the keys to our heritage and it wouldn't be unusual that they be played at my own. But always look on the bright side of life is one I would insist on because when I'm gone, I don't want people toourn my death, but celebrate the fact I was here and could make others smile, laugh, and love during that time

Well, that's a very nice Explanation why someone should Play that song during a funeral.

Nowadays it is (relatively) popular, that the people are already "dictating" what they want to have on their tombstone; for example: "Never cut the blue wire!" or "Right here lies no one. I'm on a caribbean island. Dumb collection office. Shhht, don't tell anybody!" or "How could I sink so low? Well, I died!"

My daughter lives near a cemetary and as I drive by, there's one headstone that says,"Hey everybody! It's Mike! What's up?"

On a more somber, but light-hearted note, one young child buried there has some of her toys and her bicycle has become her headstone. I tear up when I see that.

The video should be played at every funeral.
