All minorities and LBGT community got preference over my veteran status. NOT equal,... but preference.

I have not seen that in my area,... I am near the airline industry,.. and worked it for 15 years. Lots of gays,.. to include management and no one thought anything about it. WHere I heard complaints,.. was when 2 partners separated,.. the benefits ended with no legal issues. WHere as straight couples,.. were locked in court and had atty fees. Again,.. this really was not a complaint,... but rather something unions felt the companies should address. I don't cre either way,... but my work was effected. The LBGT community got preference over vets. I was in a unique field of work,... didn't effect me,... but would have if any minority or LBGT compteted with me. Under the diversified programs,.. vet status was at the bottom,.. only below disabled vet. Not sure if like that everywhere,.. but was where I worked for a long time.

It's across the board... all groups. There are plenty of minority owned businesses that hire minorities only.. or their own culture / ethnic groups. It's not uncommon to see muslim business with all muslims working there... black, Hispanic businesses too. When I went to visit my daughter at school... if I walked in the cafeteria, cultures and races naturally Group together.. sit together.. and work together. It's natural. . ;)

No... i didn't research that bro. It is a great discussion topic... another would be how many minority groups are profiled "in" to jobs as well. I'm against it both ways. Everything is color free in my perfect world.. and you move forward, advance, hired, etc based on your performance and ability... that's it. No matter what color, gender etc... if you can do it, you get. No racism... no quotas.. etc. Do we agree?

Ive talked about this before. Of course we all would agree if everyone was like you or I, and only went based on merit, then it would indeed be a more perfect world and we would not need quotas, AA, etc... however its not. Nope. No way. This country is far from being color free. Statistics, reports, polls, and a simple search on facebook in the comments section reveal that we are not as a nation like you. So until that changes, you cant remove AA period. Sorry that you or I may be turned down for a job because another candidate who had the same qualifications is a minority and we are not. But I am happy to do that in exchange for the fact that I am the majority. I have a higher chance of pretty much everything you can list, education, bank loans, even yes landing a job.
All minorities added together, make up 37% of the US population. However, only 21.4% of small biz are owned by minorities. Why is that? Shouldnt it be much higher, to reflect the population? I gave a great example with Ferguson. That city population is made up of 64% blacks, yet only 22% of biz in that city are owned by blacks. This happens all around the country. Why? If the white people are so frequently at a disadvantage, why isnt the numbers showing it? To further disprove the extent of what you were saying (not saying it never happens, but that its insignificant) out of the nations 5.8 minority owned biz, a staggering 86% have no paid employees, meaning that they are sole prop or family biz. So please, tell me how 14% of 37% (5%) of all biz in the US that are minority and have paid employees could be discriminating against you by hiring only their race. Come on now!

My very hard working, award winning, experienced daughter in law had a mediocre inexperienced gay man with lots of contacts promoted over her, after being assured it was her promotion. It was the airline industry, and my DIL is a minority, if it should matter. Anybody can lose out to prejudice of some type. We know lots of gay people & they definitely seem to do BETTER in their careers. Go figure. Everybody gets treated unfairly sometimes.

One of the big mysteries of the GOP: Why do they advocate less govderment but yet try to regulate everything in one's personal life. I think there has been some confusion that leaves both views more right then wrong. There is a group that falls under the political spectrum of authoritarian left that claims to aim for "equality and acceptance" and then opposes such views for the people and groups they dislike. They often call themselves progressive liberals despite their neo progressivism being very anti individual liberty (the core of liberalism) and regressive. E.g. they will claim to want racial equality and then want race based "safe spaces" (segregation).

I'm in nh. Lots of people into that.
