Maybe the reason China is the Steel Mfr for the world, is that someone figured out that the exhaust from steel production creates acid rain and that the prevailing winds blow out to the Pacific Ocean or lightly populated Siberia from China; whilst USA steel production was historically blowing out that nasty exhaust over the largest portion of it's own population of people. Using that shit ton of coal, to get to temps necessary to make steel out of iron ore. There is no such thing as clean coal.

Clean coal refers to coal plants that sequester the pollutants from burning coal to make power. We have it down to near zero emissions and a bit of water.
