Article 1 Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution was run roughshod over by several states

governors (state executive branch) in some states,
and state supreme court chief justices (state judicial branch)
hastily made changes in their election laws RATHER THAN THEIR STATE LEGISLATORS THEREOF (state Legislative Branch) as is specifically spelled out within the constitution regarding such VALIDITY of matters.
