You nailed it. They tend to favor issues that they believe, using liberal logic, will allow themselves to sleep soundly at night, guilt free.

Sad part is, their solutions almost always make the situation they think they're improving, worse.

That's what happens to libs when their feelings are more important than outcomes.

My buddy (also electrician) put them on his house. it saved about 50$ a month. They lasted 5 yrs.(some)
was it cost effective for him? barley he said but he didn't charge himself to install them.
If you live in a place like California or AZ it maybe more cost effective.
If you live in a place with a lot of storms (hail etc) or have a lot of tall trees, not so much

um... where are the majority of those solar panels being made? And what kind of energy are they using to mine the materials used in those panels... to produce those panels?? How many of those houses have outlets for EV charging?? The electric grid will not allow every house to have an EV charger... Have you ever heard of rolling blackouts in California? Now picture trying to flee a wildfire there in an EV that needs charging but the utility company turned off the power because of the wildfire...

All seemingly legit questions.

But let's cut to the chase. Whether that coal is used by China to build solar panels or not, doesn't mitigate the fact that they are building coal power plants at a furious pace. And these aren't American style clean coal plants. These are dirty. Dirty, dirty, coal.

Leftist propaganda outlet NPR might be in your wheelhouse for this issue. According to the article from below, China quadrupled the amount of new coal power plant approvals in 2022 compared to 2021. Somehow I doubt that's changed much since 2022, in spite of their economic woes.

Yeah. they have a lot of coal plants. And the millions of houses would still produce more pollution. It's just like EVs vs ICE cars. Yes, there is more pollution generated in producing an EV. But then the EVs generate far far far less pollution AFTER than an ICE car.

All human activity generates pollution. We need to take every action to reduce that pollution. Pointing at someone else and saying "but they're doing it!!!" is some toddler level shit.

Never mind that China is the world's largest producer of coal, no need for us to bring it there by rail,,,

Then again, 2/3 of people in the US can't locate Canada on the map. Probably why we have so many neckbeards, they can't locate their facial hair on their face for the purposes of shaving.

FUN FACT: 40% of arsenic pollution in California actually comes from the smoke of burning coal in China.
