Why do you think they've mandated kill switches for new vehicles?

One day we might have the sci-fi tech for these to work well.

We have it. Ow. It's called nuclear batteries and they last for years on a single charge.

Not enough output. If you want to power a watch, they work. Powering a ca takes far more.

Sorry no. Nuclear batteries can power just about anything. Please do your research. The reason they don't want to use them is because of the radioactive materials inside that could cause long term issues with accidents or maliciousness, but they can be made in such a way that they can withstand wrecks and can't be opened except by the proper authorities. Similar to how xray machines are regulated.

I did do the research, you get about 100 microwatts from the higher end cells. They hope to get them to 1 watt of power by 2025. They may be small and you can use many of these in a series to get a higher output, but you don't get enough to run a car and be very expensive on top of that.

Diamond nuclear batteries look promising, but are an developmental stage, if the kinks are worked out. You can have a electric car that drives further than a gas car,

A nuclear battery using 63Ni as the source of radiation packs about 3,300 mWh/g, which is ten times higher than the specific energy of commercially available chemical batteries like lithium-ion batteries (100-265 mWh/g).
It can be done, but they would need to use plutonium or uranium waste materials.

And artificial diamonds, these are still in the prototype stage. Maybe in a few years we'll hammer the kinks out for mass production.
0 ups, 1mo
Exactly. Right now they can power a tesla. In the future there may be vehicles that can run a year on one charge.

Why's all ya have to hate on Cybertrucks?!
1 up, 1mo,
1 reply
I actually think they’re cool looking. I don’t know if they’re too early to be mainstream though. I see the Cybertrucks every once in a while. I think they look cool, but I don’t know how much of a truck they are. You want to see something strange? Look at the truck from Rivian. The headlights are so stupid looking. I saw one and googled, “stupid looking headlights” to find out what it was, lol

I guess it would be weird to see Cybertrucks everywhere.

You can see how gay the Rivian looks, lol. The Cybertuck looks so geometrical, and with the brushed metal, it really stands out. I guess someday it won’t be so unusual, or maybe even look old compared to what the future brings.

Oh it stands out all right. Ever see any of them up close?
You look at it for a couple seconds, wondering what's that, then you wonder if it's some leftover reject from some 1980s 'futuristic' sci-fi movie. Seriously, who came up with the design, somebody in the making of the original Total Recall? It looks like a joke designed by a runt who just reached puberty.

I don’t know the price on them, but I can’t imagine that they’re worth it. I’ve never seen one up close, only as they are being towed, lol, I mean, only as they drive by. If I won one somehow, I’d sell it immediately. It looks so different than other vehicles, it stands out, but I drive a metallic tangerine ‘08 Honda Element, and that also stands out 🤣

I saw one a couple of weeks ago parked in the neighborhood, had no idea what it was, then figured maybe it was a Tesla. And I passed by it again yesterday.

I did turn around and look at it the first time, but it does look cheesy.
I highly doubt it's going to age well. It's trying too hard to look amazingly different.

"Grandpa, you really bought that car way back when and what were you smoking?"
0 ups, 1mo
Yeah, I would think it will show dings and dents, along with crud. I’m sure it’s a fortune to get any work done on it, including body work.
As far as my Element, I bought this one 5 or 6 years ago, I think. I had an ‘03, the year they came out. I put over 270k miles on that one and it still ran. They stopped making them in 2011, and I saw this one for sale. It was in much better condition than my ‘03, and only had about 85k on it. It now has over 195k. I really liked the removable seats and how it can be configured for whatever I’m up to. I get laughed at, but I also run across people who loved theirs and wish they were still in production.
