It's weird that y'all insist you're the party of law & order but then you lionize people who break the law.

It's like you're not serious.

Can't keep pigeons if you live in an apartment building.

And the issue with the squirrel is that it's a wild animal and it is illegal to keep them as pets in New York. It may be tame, but it is not domesticated.

Of course in this case it was rescued as a baby and would have died otherwise and likely wouldn't be able to survive long in the wild on its own at this point. The best thing for it would be to remain as it was at home, but the law is the law, and before you know it other people will be using "rescued" as an excuse to keep wild animals as pets. That's how the authorities see it anyways.

So then allow a person time to obtain a wild animal permit for a rescued animals. What next a 5 year old can't keep a frog or caterpillar as a pet?

5-year-olds shouldn't keep any pets. In fact, nobody should keep any pets.
Being a slave animal is a horrible existence. Except for maybe dogs on occasion, as they're practically a symbiotic species with humans anyways. And that's if you have a group of them and enough acreage for them to run around, and free from the abuse heaped upon slave animals from humans.

What gets me is how they forcibly had the animal euthanized. It did nothing wrong, and the owner did nothing wrong. All the state had displayed is pure cruelty.

And if all you're going to do is make excuses for the establishment and back them up because "that's the law" and "you're just following orders" then.. well, it's no better than these guys.
