And yet you continue to support republican policy anyway. Oh the irony.

It should not matter what party a person is associated with if what they say is true, a warning of a government with complete control should worry any free man.

They just verified an unspoken truth, that presidents should not be prosecuted for doing their jobs. Stop making shit up to fear monger.

That’s what you all said when “dont say gay” laws were passed and we were right.

This is no difference as there are no limits to the scope of those duties and aside from ACB you can’t even use their conduct/motives as evidence in criminal trial.

Its up to the courts to decide whether something was an offical act or not, you are fear peddling over an agenda that you don't like. Presidents can still be prosecuted depending on the courts ruling on the act. Stop fear peddling nonsense ..please.

No - it's up to the whim of the president now because neither the legislature nor the courts can hold him accountable with the presumption of immunity.

What he says is what it is - god save the king.
0 ups, 6mo,

That is absolutely wrong. Whether or not an action is offical or not is left up to lower courts. Meaning that anyone can still be held accountable depending on a court's decision.

The executive can claim the assassination of the judges and legislators who would side against him is an official act - we've already seen the calls from your side to hold tribunals for treason against those who have dared to hold Trump accountable for his crimes.

You just don't get it - our three co-equal branches are no more.

Well , as you are wringing your hands fretting your life away , I'll be Enjoying my life and the holiday. Sorry you are so afraid of make believe monsters.

We were told the same thing about Roe and the VRA - the monsters are real, enjoy your delusion of independence.

If a President does something illegal out side of an offical act which is decided by a lower court.. ffs, he can be impeached , removed from office and prosecuted. ffs... the fear peddling doesn't work for me because I lived through all this shit before and both sides sing the same tunes.. end of this , end of that blah blah blah.
[deleted]
0 ups, 6mo
None of us have lived through this shit before - in the 1970s there were still Republicans who had principles, and no one believed it when Nixon said being President made his criminal behavior legal.

Those simply don't exist these days - and no, he can't be impeached as we've seen twice in the past 8 years. The Republicans in the Senate refused to take the process seriously, and packed the court with theocratic liars who would ensure their king could never be held accountable.

I get it - end times are hard to live through and it's easier to bury your head in the sand, but prepare, because the game's over.

Again that’s exactly what you all said about don’t say gay laws.

You were lying through your teeth then.

You’re lying now.
It’s not fear peddling it’s the reality you and your party’s actions have created for us.

Stop lying , Your saying things that are completely false. Your are trying to make something out of thin air and I know better. Its making you look irrational and frantic.

You guys said the same thing about Roe and the Voting Rights Act...

You're wrong now, just as you're wrong about the fact that they're coming after anything resembling social progress - marriage equality (sex and race), contraception, and so forth are all on the metaphorical chopping block.

Trust me , if they come for socialists I am going to be the one knocking on the doors. I have heard this same bullshit fear pandering from right wingers, and now its you left wingers, as soon as you hear something you disagree with its the end of the world. Just stop already

I have no doubt you'll be out there stringing up your neighbors for not being the right kind of Americans - it's what fascists tend to do.

Also the court was never "packed" , Obama would have had a seat if RBG didn't decide to die in her chair giving Trump 3. So blame her if you are mad at the SCOTUS lineup.
[deleted]
0 ups, 6mo
Of course it was - have you completely forgotten that Moscow Mitch refused to even have a hearing for Merrick Garland's nomination to SCOTUS?

He would have done exactly the same thing had RBG retired.
0 ups, 6mo,
1 reply
As for the SCOTUS seat RBg should have left while Obama still had plenty of time, she should have left years prior to Trump.. she didn't because like all politicans she could not handle giving up the power. So she screwed your party out of a seat.
[deleted]
0 ups, 6mo
By that logic, Scalia should have retired during the Bush administration.

The problem, of course, isn't that she didn't retire in time, but that the Republicans couldn't abide Obama nominating a third justice to the court, and refused to do their duty to the American people and our Constitution, because they really don't give a shit about either.
0 ups, 6mo,

Obama had 2 years left when RBG should have retired, Mitch didn't allow the last nomiee because Obama was a lame duck in his last 4 months.
[deleted]
0 ups, 6mo
Merrick Garland was nominated on March 16, 2016, a full 10 months before Obama left office - he wouldn't become a lame duck until 8 months later.

Now I am a facist because I don't bend knee to fear peddling left wingers? Fine I am happy with the title of Racist Nazi or what else you want to call me LOL

"metaphorical chopping block." = means nothing.

No, it means the list of issues the conservative justices are out there begging to have brought before the court so they can overturn precedent as they've done a dozen or so times already since Mitch and Don packed the court.

Odd that you know the quote best applies against the left (thus being used by the right), given that all that is in the meme is the quote.

wtf are you on about? Orwells 1984 was an anti facist manifesto and was an avid socialist. Even his most propagandist piece animal farm was anti Stalinism not anti socialist as snow ball had good ideas he was just run out of town and executed by napoleon.

This quote hardly applies to the left in America this day when you have conservatives lying through their teeth about the recent ruling that has given the office of Presidency to have cart Blanche to any crime they wish with virtually no accountability.

Again he was an avid socialist were he alive today he wouldn’t be a fan of the dnc but he would DESPISE maga with the same hatred of Stalinism.

I'm refering to your comment on the quote. You responded that "the right paraded" it out. But all that was posted was the quote. No context for why it was posted. Yet you knew why it was posted.

The reason you know the quote most closely reflects the left is
The left has consistently says things that require you to ignore the evidence of your eyes and ears (Joe is at the top of his game, the economy is booming)
They also frequently alter language. (I.e. gender used to be a medical term, not a social one. When affirmative action fell out of favor they changed it to DEI, ect.)
Even with your attempts at willful ignorance, deep down you know the truth.

Jesus Christ media literacy really is dead…
No I stated something because its perversion of Orwell works to be weaponized in favor of fascism and authoritarianism which he hated with a passion to the point he fought literally against it.

And again were he alive today maga would want him dead for being anti maga/trump.

No his works don’t apply to the made up bullshit talking points of the right use to strawman their opponents like you just did. It’s just the right using historical significant intellectuals to make it seem like dead smart people agree with maga. Much like MLK gets used by the right (and centrist liberals.) despite the fact they hated him when he was alive.

Because maga is stupid and has always been stupid. It’s a critique that’s dogged the movement especially since the head of that movement is a blithering idiot who thinks windmills cause cancer.
