I found that number from multiple sources, so I'm reasonably confident it's accurate, or at least representative of where health officials put the total.

But imo that 7 million number is suspect, since many deaths were attributed to covid which were not caused by covid. If someone had the virus in their system when they died, and more money was given out based on more covid deaths... well, you can do the math.
