To be fair, the battle flag used to be very common. It was more about Souther identity than anything negative. Dukes of Hazard did not hate anyone. They were just good 'ol boys never meanin' no harm.

I don't recall a 'special episode' about race BUT I know that Boss Hogg had lines he never crossed nor did he permit other criminals to get away with certain crimes like murder and drug dealing. I'd think being a racist tool that wears more white than Hogg would be a no-no by him and everyone in Hazard. . .then there was the Black Sheriff in the next county who didn't like Hogg or the Dukes because of their antics.
