Electric cars need electricity. Some of which is provided by coal. I've heard you can charge one with a diesel generator and the amount of diesel required to charge the car per mile driven is still less than the amount of diesel required for a car directly powered by diesel for the same distance. Not sure if diesel is better or worse than coal but I tend to think eventually coal might be phased out entirely.

The top 3 selling vehicles in America for 2022 were the Ford F-150, the Chevy Silverado, and the Dodge Ram Pickup (CarAndDriver.com). Pretty sure those vehicles are comparable in weight to electric cars. But I guess if you want to blame electric cars for f*cking up the roads and for your expensive tires, you're free to do that.

I think the weight thing has to do with distribution. Electric cars are smaller for their weight, so it's more focused. The vehicles you named are all much larger pickup trucks with greater weight dispersion. The same physics premise as standing up versus laying spread eagle on thin ice.

That theory about weight distribution could be valid. I guess you'd have to look at what type of tires they use and how many sq inches of tire contacts the road as a ratio to weight.
