No, you haven't, and no, you don't.
If you had ever even been here, you would have known that Trump was always in the papers - for nothing. Not only has he been the guy next door, he's been the lame joke next door since the 70s.
I've even walked past his house back then, and didn't know till about a decade ago because it were no big deal. Family friends we know from there took us on a tour after dinner at a restaurant to see the changing neighbohood, McMansions taking over classic old homes. "Oh, that was Trump's house there," they said. Just another domicile in a neighborhood of monied people. We have lots of those here. It isn't so special anymore when even actual stars from everywhere - even your country - move here. At least a Rock star or movie celeb is known and liked for something.
I've seen more of them than you would if you took the tour bus through Bevely Hills - on the street (Bill Murray), on a plane (Esai Morales), telling jokes on 8th St multiple times before he got discovered (Rick Aviles), another that grew up one block away from me (I won't say her name for obvious reasons), the bf of a friend (Charlie Anthax), speaking at Fordham U (Casper Weinberger (ugh) landing in a helicopter on Eddie's Parade) and Corey Feldman (yikes!), lived in the neighborhood Dion & the Belmonts, Joe Pesci, and Chazz Plaminteri came from, one of those (Palminteri) at the Italian Feast on Arthur, even on the friggin subway once (Phillip Glass), aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I didn't bother talking to a single one (except a brief q to Murray) because there was no need to, we just let them be here.
I understand that might be difficult for someone not used to such an overabundance to the point it means nothing and so someone like a Trump is a big deal to them. But that's not my problem now, is it?
